Introduction
Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher is an enterprise reporting solution to author, manage, and deliver all types of highly formatted documents. End users can easily design report layouts using familiar desktop tools, reducing the time and cost needed to develop and maintain reports. Extremely efficient and highly scalable. Reports can be viewed online or scheduled for delivery to a wide range of destinations.
Oracle Corporation released Oracle BI publisher in two ways. 1. Standalone BI Publisher. It works as standalone reporting tool owning its inbuilt security model. This training manual gives more information about the standalone BI Publisher tool and its capabilities. BI Publisher Integrated with OBIEE. This comes along with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition. It will use the OBIEEs security model.

Login with your username, password and select the appropriate Language and click on Sign In
My Folders, where the personal reports get stored. These reports can be accessed by only by the users who created. Shared Folders, where the common reports get stored. Users can access these reports according to their permissions. Click on more to view the entire shared folder.
This is the folder which can hold reports, used to organize the reports
These are the reports present within the folder Supply Chain Management
Use these options to create new folder to organize the reports and to create a new report. Click on Create a new report.

Enter the report name and click on Create button. New report AA Demo will be shown in the right pane.

This report is created directly under Shared Folders. You can also create a report under a particular folder by clicking on the Create a new report after drill down to the path where you want to create a new report. There are five options available for a report. 1. View To view the result of the report 2. Schedule To schedule this at a particular time with/without a condition and deliver to a set to delivery devices. 3. History To view the report results/status of the scheduled report. 4. Edit To edit the report. 5. Configure To configure the report with lots of properties.

These are the inputs needed to create a BIP report. 1. Data Model Source data on which you need to create a report. 2. List of values To add a list of values for more interaction. 3. Parameters To pass parameters to the report. 4. Layout How to display the data to the user. 5. Bursting To specify the parameters to deliver the report based on a column value. Click on New to add new and Delete to delete the items.

Select the Data Model and click on New and enter the data model name and select the type of source data and provide the appropriate details. Here XML file is the source data. Mentioned xml file should be present in the BIPHome/xmlp/xmlp/DemoFiles. Save the report.

Template Builder link is used to install Oracle BI Publisher Desktop in the client machine. Analyzer for Excel link is used to install the Excel Analyzer in the client machine. Oracle SQL Developer link is used to navigate to the Oracle site, where you can download the SQL Developer and its associated documents.

You will get the Oracle BI Publisher menu, if you installed the BI Publisher desktop on the system using the Template Builder in the Developer Tools section. Select Log On from the menu and provide the user id, password and the report server details as shown in the next slide.

Click on Login button. It will ask you to select the report for creating template as shown in the next slide.

Click on Insert menu and select Field. You will get a pop up window with the fields provided in the xml which is mentioned in the Data Model section. Drag and drop or select the field and click on insert button on the pop up and design the report you want to look like.

After designing the template, select the Oracle BI Publisher menu and select Upload Template As and provide the suitable template name. This template will be added to the report automatically.

Select Layout and click on New, you will get this screen. Report template that you created will be automatically selected and you can adjust the output format types by check/uncheck the checkboxes associated with the format types. Provide the appropriate name and save the report.

BI Publisher- Bursting
Specify the split by and deliver by fields and provide the data source for the delivery.

Click on View to view the result. Select the output type and you can view the result the selected output type. You can also export the result in the selected output type, send the results to the delivery device attached and also schedule this report to a particular time with/without condition.

Select the output type and click on Export button, you will get a File Download option. You can open the file or save it on your pc.

Use this button to deliver the report to various delivery devices. You will get a pop up and select the delivery device and provide the appropriate details. List of delivery devices are shown in the left hand side.

You need to give a name for the particular job and select the parameters and how you want to view the output and if you need any notifications when a particular event happen and what frequency you want to run this report. After filling all the detail click Submit

There are lot of Runtime Properties. You can set/reset those values, which will be used while running the report.

You can view status/username/scope/start time/end time of the particular schedule history of the report and also you can download the result document as well as XML file for the output.

To sign out from the BI Publisher, click the Sign Out link.

You can upload the existing report of one BIP server to the other server with this option.

You need to select the xdo file of the existing report and select whether to overwrite the existing report and click on Upload button. Report will be created with the name of the xdo file as shown below. Need to associate the template to display the result.

Admin privileged users can view this screen. Most of the configuration settings can be done here.

Enable the check box and provide the superuser name and password as this user can log in to system independent of security model.
Enable the checkbox and provide the credentials to enable single sign on security model.

Click the Create User button to create a new user using the below screen for Oracle BI Publisher.
Enter the Username and password and Click on Apply button to create the user.

Can create roles using the below screen and assign access/permission to specific folders, data sources and assign existing roles.
Enter the name and description of the role and Click on Apply button to create the role.

Repository configuration, server/scheduler configuration can be done in this section. Can refresh the folders and reports using the Refresh Metadata link.
Runtime properties of the reports and fonts used in the BIP repots can be mapped
in this section.
Oracle BI presentation services and BI Discoverer are configured to use as source for BIP reports.
