Would you like to study with us on a new distance learning doctoral programme?
The Division of Health Research, located within Lancaster Universitys School of Health and Medicine, has an international reputation for its contribution to research in the field of public health, most notably in relation to the social determinants of health and social inequalities in health. Our areas of expertise include social exclusion, the employment and social consequences of chronic illness, and the evaluation of complex area-based interventions. In response to the growing demand for doctoral level education in public health we are offering a new doctoral programme. The PhD in Public Health is a part-time distance e-learning course which has been designed to meet the needs of people working in the field who wish to enhance their research skills, develop their understanding of policy and practice and make an original contribution to knowledge development. The programme will help to create and support tomorrows leaders in public health, across a range of roles and organisational settings.
This new programme of study will be of considerable interest to senior public health practitioners who will benefit from the opportunity to continue to develop skills and to incorporate an academic dimension into their practice. The currently renewed emphasis on research and evaluation in public health practice brings significant development needs for many public health professionals; this programme will constitute an ideal delivery vehicle for the required reflection and learning
