The friend will be an aid to the students. Students will be asked to put their friend in different places around the classroom, for example, put your friend on the chair. Games: Where is it? This game is interchangeable. One way to play is teacher will have an object and place it around the classroom in different prepositional locations. For example, I will put a frog toy under the table. Students then have to tell me where the frog is. This game can also be played by giving each student a small toy and asking groups of students to place the toy in different places around the room. For example, all students with the red dinosaur place it in front of the board. Reading: The Hungry Shark
Phonics
Review This week in phonics we will continue to review all of the single letter sounds of the alphabet. We will continue to use the Jolly Phonics songs and cd, but will strictly be using letter only flashcards rather than the Jolly Phonics flashcards. Sounds will be practiced through games such as match, fly swat, music and sound match and spot the missing sound.
New (letters/sounds/vocabulary)
This week we will continue blending the first six sounds of the Jolly Phonics program. Letter sounds include: sss, aaa, ttt, iii, nnn, ppp. At this stage in the semester we will only be blending two letter sounds. Blended sounds we will be focusing on this week include: as, an, ap, at, in, is, ip, it.
