4. Project Methodology:
Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study, or the theoretical analysis of the body of methods and principles associated with a branch of knowledge. It, typically, encompasses concepts such as paradigm, theoretical model, phases and quantitative or qualitative techniques.[1] A Methodology does not set out to provide solutions but offers the theoretical underpinning for understanding which method, set of methods or so called best practices can be applied to a specific case. It has been defined also as follows: 1. "the analysis of the principles of methods, rules, and postulates employed by a discipline";[2] 2. "the systematic study of methods that are, can be, or have been applied within a discipline";[2]

5. Project Description:
This project aims to build a GSM based security system using multiple cameras for surveillance and multiple sensors for intrusion detection. There are two cameras used in developing this system. One of these is an Internet Protocol (IP) camera, which provides video monitoring that can be very conveniently accessed remotely by configuring Port Forwarding which allows for you to access the camera from a remote location by forwarding the network ports used by the camera onto the Internet. The other camera being used is the Closed Circuit television (CCTV) camera, which will transmit video images wirelessly using one or more in built video cameras and thus will broadcast these transmissions to the monitors or DVR (Digital Video Recorder). Moreover it uses a motion sensor that detects movement in a given room and a proximity sensor that senses the presence of nearby objects by emitting an electromagnetic field. Of both the cameras being used, IP camera is movable whereas the CCTV camera is fixed. Both the cameras and the sensors are then serially interfaced to the embedded microcontroller PIC, which in turn is serially interfaced to the GSM module. As soon as the sensors and the cameras sense an intrusion, they register it to the microcontroller, therefore triggering it to decode the received signal and sending an SMS to the GSM module using AT commands. The GSM module then converts this digital information into airborne signals, delivering the SMS alert to the authorized persons GSM mobile phone.Secondly as soon as intrusion Is sensed by the sensors they trigger an automatic door locker which locks up a cupboard containing valaubles.
