the Japan was on behalf of Toyota.

Shorter Product Cycle

In an effort to reduce the impacts of cars on the

environment and society, Toyota has developed
‘Eco-Vehicle Assessment Systems’ (Eco-VAS) to
evaluate performance. Eco- VAS is a comprehensive
design tool, which Toyota’s engineers use to measure
vehicle impacts through their ‘life cycle’ (LCA) -
during their design and production, distribution,
use and disposal.

New methods of processing

Toyota used many new method of processing
in order to developed the standard of their product.
For an example-
In November 2000 the ninth generation Corolla (E120,
E130) was introduced in Japan, with edgier styling and more technology to bring the
nameplate into the 21st century. It is also called the Corolla Altis in the ASEAN region.
And the tenth generation Corolla (E140, E150) was introduced in order 2006. It is newly
modified from the ninth generation. Japanese markets called it the Corolla Axio, with
ASEAN markets retaining the Altis branding. The station wagon retains the Corolla
Fielder name.

Social and Cultural Environment

A business enterprise operates in a society which provides the resources it needs and
consumers the goods and services it provides. The important elements of social and
cultural environment are-

Growth
Toyota has prospered by growing slowly and steadily. Today Toyota can be found
in 170 countries, from the grand boulevards of Europe to the rutted roads of rural china.
Honda beat Toyota into the US market with a gas electric hybrid, but Toyota now sells
more, and it’s prices has become almost a synonym for hybrid. Toyota generally doesn’t
stumble. The company’s careful approach- “Jiwce, Jiwce Japanese for slow and steady”-
has secured it well.

Composition of Population
Composition of population is the market to fragment in the 1990s as cars
increased in popularity and become essential household goods. Marketing executive
Shotaro Kamiya focused on building a sales network models after Toyota’s supplier
network.

Higher Income and Purchasing Power

Economic situation is the most important characteristic that determine the sales
number in automotive industry. Because cars is sensitive-income product, so identify the
income of target market is very crucial. Learning consumer behavior and their buying
decision enable marketer to adapt with consumer demands and needs. For example,
Toyota Prius which launched 1997 has already sold by 1 million units worldwide
(Reuters, February 2009). Therefore, Toyota have seen and learnt that their target
markets are willing to pay less fuel to commuting. Furthermore, target consumers need
hybrid cars that have fewer prices than ordinary cars and Toyota did it by selling the
Prius cheaper than its rival Honda Insight.

Customs, Religion, and Tradition

In the past many Chinese would only buy Toyota cars imported from Japan.
Realising the apparent potential of the Chinese migrants market, Toyota ran an ethnic
marketing campaignto coincide with the opening of its new Altona plant in Melbourne in
1994. Many ethnic Chinese newspapers ran full-page or double-spread feature articles
on Toyota’s new state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in Melbourne. As a result, many
Chinese migrants have changed theirattitudes towards Toyota cars assembled locally in
Australia. Since Chatswood in New South Wales has the largest number of Chinese
migrants in Australia, it is not surprising that the Toyota dealership in Chatswood is now
Australia’s number one Toyota dealer.

This is how the business environments affect the growth and prosperity of a
company.
