General Rules

Participants must individually register online before they can enrol online for the event. Individual Registration as well as Event Enrolment can be performed on www.vortexict.org. No Participation fees* Certificates will be provided to those who qualify for the final round (if applicable). The team can have participants of different colleges. Scanned/photocopied valid documents clearly VERIFYING THE YEAR OF STUDY AND COLLEGE should be sent along with the solution abstract. Failing to do so would result in disqualification. Any false or misleading information will lead to disqualification. Rules are a subject to change without prior notice. All decisions of judges and event heads are non-disputable and binding to all participants

Industry Defined Problems (IDPs) The Setup THIRD and FOURTH YEAR UNDERGRADUATES AND FIRST and SECOND YEAR MASTER students with valid ID cards of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in The Industry Defined Problems of Vortex 2013. The participating entries must be as a team of A MINIMUM OF TWO PEOPLE AND A MAXIMUM OF THREE PEOPLE. A team CAN CONSIST OF PARTICIPANTS FROM DIFFERENT COLLEGES provided each one of them has a valid ID card of his/her own college. It is compulsory to carry the Vortex Invoice Receipt in the college premises. Accommodation will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. The registration fee for participating in an IDP is `1000 PER TEAM. A special 10% DISCOUNT awaits ICTians .This fee is INCLUSIVE of the general registration fees for Vortex, which allows participation in all events of Vortex. The fee can be paid via two modes: A team can personally hand over the required fee in cash by coming to the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. Please ensure that you get a copy of your Vortex invoice which will be stamped by us as PAID for IDP. A team who cannot personally handover the cash can pay us by cheque/demand draft. The Cheque/ Demand Draft should be drawn in favour of the Institute of Chemical Technology payable at Mumbai. The Cheque should ACCOUNT PAYEE. Please mention your DD/ Cheque number while registering for IDP on the Vortex website www.vortexict.org. If the payment is being done by cash, please mention name of person cash has being paid to, date of payment, place of payment and mention 0000 as DD No. Once you have registered online, we will CONFIRM YOUR REGISTRATION for IDP against A SCANNED COPY OF THE DD (not for payment through cheque) sent to oeh.uk@vortexict.org or oeh.deven@vortexict.org For payment through CHEQUE, the registration of a team will only be CONFIRMED on THE RECEIPT of CHEQUE (original document) at the given address. Please attach a letter with your cheque and DD stating the following details of EACH team member: Name Vortex ID Institute of Study Degree and Year of Study Cheque / DD Number which is enclosed in the envelope

The teams getting confirmed registrations before 8th October 2013, 11:59pm shall be called EARLY BIRDS and teams registering after the 8th October shall be called LATE COMERS. Event Layout: For EARLY BIRDS, the IDP Statements will be declared tentatively by the 9th of October via mail to registered teams. NOTE that the statements will be provided after we confirm its registration for IDP. A mail shall be sent to each team ONE DAY PRIOR as a notification to the actual date of release of IDPs. Each team will be allowed a period of 2 hours after the release of the IDPs to fill in the preferences form of which IDPs a team wishes to solve. The preference form will be available on IDP event page on website for each EARLY BIRD. At the end of the allotted 2 hours each team will be allotted one IDP to solve based on the preferences. LATE COMERS will be directly allotted an IDP as and when their registration is confirmed. They wont be allowed to give a preference of the IDPs they wish to solve. Library facilities will be available on the 15th, 16th and the 17th of October, from 8.30 am and 8.00 pm.

SOME ADDITIONAL POINTS Slots will be allotted to each team to utilize Internet facilities. Participants are requested to BRING THEIR OWN LAPTOPS. Participants will NOT be allowed to enter the research laboratories of ICT. Xerox facility will be available for the registered participants in the Library. Do not carry or misplace books and Journals of the Prof. M. M. Sharma Library. Strict action will be taken against defaulters. ICT WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LOSS OF PERSONAL BELONGINGS LIKE LAPTOPS, MOBILES ETC. NO SMOKING, DRINKING OR CHEWING TOBACCO IN THE CAMPUS.

KEEP THE CAMPUS CLEAN. Paper solution with detailed calculations and supporting documents must be submitted to the co-ordinators at the registration desk on the 18th of October by 9.00 am. LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE ENTERTAINED. The final presentation on the day of the competition should be in .pptx format. EACH TEAM SHALL BE ALLOTTED 15 MINUTES FOR SETUP AND PRESENTATION FOLLOWED BY A SHORT QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION OF FIVE MINUTES. PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE DULY SUBMITTED AND PRESENTED A SOLUTION WILL ONLY GET THEIR PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATES AND ONLY AFTER THE CLOSING CEREMONY. Mattresses, pillows and other such conveniences provided must be duly returned. Failure to do so could invite a fine. For participants with accommodation, rooms must be vacated by the 21st of October by 9.00 am.
