A polyglot refers to someone who is multilingual or fluent in multiple languages. Or a book being written in multiple languages conveying the same main idea such as the Bible. Polyglots often refer to the first three hundred or so Russian, Chinese, and Japanese who came over to strike it rich mining gold.
What is Agrarian?
It is relating to land, and the division of land. It also pertains to the promotion of agricultural interest, and it is composed of or pertaining to farmers. It can also refer to rural or agricultural. And from fields of gold in the Gold Rush, most people turned to their fields to farm instead when they didnt strike rich. The prospectors and polyglots turned to farming the fields, a skill they already knew how to do to keep their families alive.
What is Assay?
Means to analyze a deposit of ore to determine the content of valuable minerals within. This was often used to sift through the rocks, and minerals in the riverbeds to find gold deposits in the Gold Rush. Due to so many prospectors moving to California in search of gold and sifting through many rivers side by side with hundreds of others most prospectors ended up empty handed. But this process continued to be used after the Gold Rush was over in 1859 when silver was discovered in Nevada and all the miners headed there hoping to strike it rich by finding silver deposits instead.
