CHAPTER-2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Research Methodology
Research Methodology is a way to find out the result of a given problem on a specific matter or problem that is also referred as research problem. In Methodology, researcher uses different criteria for solving/searching the given research problem. Different sources

use different type of methods for solving the problem. If we think about the word Methodology, it is the way of searching or solving the research problem. (Industrial Research Institute, 2010).

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The objective of study is to identify the existence of workstress in the organization. If YES, then to study the factors causing stress among the employees.

To study the impact and usefulness of Work StressManagement.

To analyze the level of stress among employees in HCL Technologies Ltd. To study the impact of stress on the organization working and employees working. To study the measures adopted for relaxing the employees from stress and to study whether the measures adopted are being followed appropriately in the organization or not. To study the work culture in HCL TECHNOLOGIES Ltd. To suggest some remedial measures to organizations for further improvements.

Research design- meaning and types

The research design is a comprehensive master plan of the research study to be undertaken, giving a general statement of the methods to be used. The function of a research design is to ensure that requisite data in accordance with the problem at hand is

collected accurately and economically. Simply stated, it is the framework, a blueprint for the research study which guides the collection and analysis of data. The research design, depending upon the needs of the researcher may be a very detailed statement or only furnish the minimum information required for planning the research project. In my study I have used Descriptive Research Design.

SCOPE OF STUDY
The present world is fast changing and there are lots of pressure and demand at work. These pressures at work lead to physical disorders. Stress refers to individuals reaction to a disturbing factors in the environment .Hence this study would help the organization to know the factors of stress and to reduce the stress in employees. The research was carried out to define how IT industry should work in terms of managing stress and where the company is lacking for doing the same , in addition what all techniques should be used so that they manage the stress effectively . For conducting the study help of certain tools were taken as journal , net search , filling up of questionnaires and one on one interactions with the senior managers of the organization.

DATA COLLECTION
Data collection is the process of gathering and measuring information on variables of interest, in an established systematic fashion that enables one to answer stated research questions, test hypotheses, and evaluate outcomes. The data collection component of research is common to all fields of study including physical and social sciences, humanities, business, etc. While methods vary by discipline, the emphasis on ensuring accurate and honest collection remains the same. Data collection is defined as the ongoing systematic collection, analysis, and interpretation of health data necessary for designing, implementing, and evaluating public health prevention programs. To develop effective prevention strategies, countries need to improve their information. In particular, countries need to know about the numbers and types of injuries that occur and about the circumstances in which those injuries occur. Such information will indicate how serious the injury problem is, and where prevention measures are most urgently needed.

Primary Data
Primary data means original data that has been collected specially for the purpose in mind. It means someone collected the data from the original source first hand. Data collected this way is called primary data. The people who gather primary data may be an authorized organization, investigator, enumerator or they may be just someone with a clipboard. These people are acting as a witness so primary data is only considered as reliable as the people who gathered it.

Research where one gathers this kind of data is referred to as field research. For example:our own questionnaire.

Secondary Data
Secondary data is data that has been collected for another purpose. When we use Statistical Method with Primary Data from another purpose for our purpose we refer to it as Secondary Data. It means that one purpose's Primary Data is another purpose's Secondary Data. Secondary data is data that is being reused. Research where one gathers this kind of data is referred to as desk research.

Types of data collection tools

Quantitative data can be collected using four main types of surveys: data collection about every unit in a group or population, e.g. if a VET provider collects data about the age of trainees in a class, that would be considered a class census only part of population is approached for data, e.g. if a VET provider Sample collects data about the age of female trainees in a programme, that Survey: would be considered a sample survey of the programme Administrative collected as a result of an organisation's day-to-day operations, e.g. data on enrolment data: usage of a) a regular survey as the core tool b) combining it with inTracer depth discussions with a sample of those surveyed and c) interviewing studies: key informants on particular key issues Census Qualitative data can be gathered in a variety of ways, for example: Questionnaires: Series of questions and other prompts for the purpose of gathering information from respondents, i.e. VET stakeholders Conversation between two or more people where questions are asked Interviews: by the interviewer to obtain information from the interviewee(s) A group of people are asked about their attitude towards a product, Focus groups: service, concept, an idea A group or single learners are asked to perform a specific task or Observation: action. Observations are then made of behaviours, processes, workflows etc, in a real-life situation (e.g. the workplace) Often used to provide context to other data (such as outcome data), Case study: offering a more complete picture of what happened and why

Sample Size
I take the sample size of 100employees in HCL Technologies ltd.

Sampling technique
I have chosen random sampling technique for my study.

Limitation of the survey

i. The questionnaires were filled be 100 employees working in HCL TECHNOLOGIES LTD... So the scope of sample findings was less. The questionnaire was filled by 100 employees of different designations. So the pointof view of employees differs as per their designations.

ii.

iii.

The employees from whom the questionnaires are filled are in a heavy workload so some of the questionnaires filled by the employees who are in stress cannot be called reasonable. The responses of the employees cannot be accurate as the problem of languageand understanding arises. One of the other problems of questionnaire is the cost. Sometimes it may be possible that even by spending so much the result may not be reasonable. Many a times the employees may not be really conscious or may not be bothered about the questionnaire. This may create a problem in the research.
