Outline English 12A

After each Roman Numeral or letter, fill in with the main point you will be writing about. The paper will be AT LEAST 8 paragraphs long.

I. Introduction(paragraph 1: When children are growing up, their parents usually try to influence their children into playing some type of sport, or activity. No matter what the sport is, the reasons behind it are all the same. The most obvious reason would for the child to have fun and be entertained. But another big reason would be that playing youth sports is greatly beneficial for the child's mental, and physical health, and can teach them important life lessons for later in life. II. 1 Body Point` (1 point of thesis) A. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 2) The benefits of playing youth sports isnt just physical, but mental as well. Studies
st st

show that the children will also do better in school. They also develop discipline and learn how to get along with others. Even if the child chooses whether or not to excel at their sport, they still gain these mental benefits. That is why so many children are influenced to participate in at least one sport.

B. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 3) Another study, done by MD James Hudziak, states that kids who play sports hav e fewer emotional and behavioral problems and are less likely to do drugs. The benefits are so impressive that MD James Hudziak, encourages all children to play sports recreationally, even as they get older. The point of sports from a parents point of view usually isnt to become a professional athlete, but for their child to be in a positive environment being taught skills from another adult.

III.

2 Body Point (2 point of thesis) A. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 4) The most obvious benefits of youth sports would be physical. There has been a lot of recognition for the fact that participation in youth sports can reduce obesity in our youths
nd nd

nation. Athletes experience lower rates of diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as improved cardiovascular and pulmonary function. These benefits can keep the youth much healthier, and should continue to be influenced into participating in youth sports. B. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 5) The physical benefits do not stop there, many more benefits for sport participation in youth sports have been proven. Sports in youths can also make their bones grow healthier, improve your coordination and balance, and give you a greater ability to relax and sleep. These are crucial benefits for children.

IV.

3 Body Point (3 point of thesis) A. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 6) Last but not least, youth sports can also benefit a child by teaching them life lessons for
rd rd

later in life. Traits that are learned from the participation of youth sports are leadership, development of teamwork, and determination. These are all essential and can be very useful for life later on. If these traits are used properly, they may be able to become much more successful in life than they would have been without youth sports benefits.

B. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 7) This information was found and confirmed in a study written by Keith Zullig. He stated that "Theres a lot of positive things that happen when people participate in sports, then continued on to say theres communication, team building and emotional benefits. Another life lessons learned through sport participation would be gaining social skills. Social skills are one of the most important skills you can acquire. ation V. Conclusion(paragraph 8) In conclusion, there are many sports benefits from mental, to physical, to simple life

lessons. I personally believe that youth sports should be influenced upon children. No

matter the sport you or your child may chose, it is important that they enjoy it and participate. The benefits outweigh the costs by far. Choosing to play sports a child is a no brainer, simply because youth sports can greatly benefit a childs m ental, and physical health.
