WRITING ABOUT YOUR WORK - LOOKING AT ARTWORK - FINAL PLANNING - EVALUATING
Why? - Explain in detail what you did and describe what you hope to learn from the process. WWW? - What Went Well in the process? What are are you pleased with and what did you learn? EBI? - How might your work be improved? What would you do differently? How might your work be further developed? Further experiments or outcomes?

Page Continued. FORM (Sub-Title) Describe the way the artist creates different visual qualities by using: Lines, tones, shapes, colours, textures, patterns and composition. Identify the Elements of Art that you think exist in the artwork, and what impact do they have on the overall piece. Identify the Principles of Design that you think exist in the artwork, and what impact do they have on the overall piece.
NOTE: Composition is the way the image is arranged within a space or shape.
MOOD (Sub-Title)
Remember that you should always try to include your own words that help to establish and communicate your own understanding...
Does the work capture a mood, feeling or emotion? How has the artist created this? Do the colours have an impact or inuence the mood of the piece? What is the main focus of subject matter and how does in inuence the piece?
4. You should try to include and dene your own personal opinion.
What do you like about the piece and why? What do you dislike and why? What do you think the artist was trying to communicate to the audience? Do you think they were successful and why?
5. You should include practical work. Make drawings, sketches, and paintings to show what you have learnt. A good way to do this is copy sections of the artwork, or for a much higher grade. produce your own artwork using a similar style or technique.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED AND HOW MIGHT YOU USE IT IN YOUR OWN WORK?
3. FINAL PLANNING...
You should make sure that your nal design is on one page in your Process Journal as this is the best way to communicate and justify your intent. Your idea or goal needs to be clearly explained, discussing main elements that display symbolism and meaning. Additionally you should link your design to your research or starting point.

VISUAL SUMMARY
This chart helps you to visualize this document and summarize its content and purpose. Every Visual Arts unit will be made of various components that directly relate to the assessment criteria. When Formative and Summative tasks are set this document will help to structure your approach and help you to achieve the grades that you deserve. Using this guide, will not only help to understand the complexities of different art forms but, also enable you to condently create original artwork that communicates depth and meaning in relation to the requirements of the MYP (Middle Years Programme).
FEEDBACK...
In addition to your summative tasks, you can expect to receive verbal and written feedback on your progress (Formative) at regular intervals. It is your responsibility as a student to act upon the advice given to you so that you can make the necessary modications to your work. During the course of a unit there will be a time that you may need help to fully understand what is being asked from you. It really is within your interest and important that you ask for advice and feedback regularly.
