(Discipleship, by love.) VISION (Matthew 28:18-20), (Matthew 22:35-40) Fulfilling the great commission, by living the great commandment.

Matthew 28:18-20, New King James Version (NKJV)

18

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

o Christ has ALL authority in heaven and on earth: (v. 18)
o o o He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords; demons tremble at His name. No man comes to God but through Christ. He is our mediator. We have authority in Christ. Be bold in what He has called us to do.

o Go: (v. 19)

o o Spread the Gospel (good news) of Jesus life, death, and resurrection. Reach the world in our daily walk.

o To Make Disciples: (v. 19)

o Disciples are not only hearers, but doers of the word. They have a personal relationship with Christ and follow even at risk of personal sacrifice. A disciples life resembles that of his Lord.

o Of All Nations: (v. 19)

o Locally Go first to the lost, confused, and needy in our own community. Globally Have a heart for all of Gods children.

o Baptizing: (v. 19)

o o Transforming lives through Christs mercy and grace. Showing the world that we have been reborn in Christ, to walk in His ways.

o Teaching: (v. 20)

o o Believers are strengthened and equipped by Gods Word. All scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and for instruction in righteousness.

o Never Alone: (v. 20)

o o o We are empowered by the Holy Spirit working within us. He comforts, heals, guides, teaches, and bestows gifts upon us during our journey. The Holy Spirit inside of us is greater than all powers of the world.

Matthew 22:35-40, King James Version (KJV)

35

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

THE GREAT COMMANDMENT

o Love God: (V. 37-38)
o o God first loved us. He sent His only Son to die for us; providing a means for us to have an eternal relationship with Him. We are to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength. Our actions show God our love. We seek to honor Him in our praise, study, worship, and praise. No man can serve two masters. We are devoted to the Lord.

o Love Others: (v. 39)

o o o o o o o Because God loved us, we should also love one another. You cant love God and hate your brother. What we do for our neighbors is what we do for Christ. We are called to love everyone, even those who despise us. Invest in people.
Everyone will live for eternity in heaven or hell. People respond to the love of Christ working in us.

All men will know we are Christs disciples by our love. Love brings unity. It is the bond of perfection.

o Serve as Christ Served Us.

o o o Christ came to serve, not be served. We glorify God by using what He has given us to serve others. It is more blessed to give than to receive. If we want to be great, we must become servants. Let us not be selfserving, but all about Christ.
