Consistency: Our level of quality is unquestionably the best. Experience: 40 plus years of manufacturing experience gives us the knowledge to continually design the most advanced products available. Dedication: BlueWaters dedication to our customers is the key to our longevity. We understand the benefits of long time customers.
These are the qualities that make BlueWater ropes the most trusted in the world.
BlueWaters textile manufacturing roots began with a family owned cotton-spinning mill five generations ago in 1903. Founded in 1969 and still family owned, BlueWater was the first manufacturer of kernmantle style synthetic ropes for caving. Following these first ropes, BlueWater designed and manufactured the first commercially available ropes specifically for use by fire/rescue professionals. In 1982 BlueWater produced the first American made UIAA Certified mountaineering ropes available to
ISO 9000 BlueWater was certified under the ISO 9000 program over ten years ago! We led the industry, literally by years, in this achievement. Our historical dedication to quality allowed us to be compliant to the ISO standards with few modifications to our existing internal quality control and testing programs. This was, and still is, a tribute to our personal dedication to perfection.

Color Guide
Throughout this catalog, each rope type has a selection of colors with abbreviated names which follow: Black: bk, White: wh, Blue: bl, Red: rd, Green: gr, Yellow: yl, Orange: or, Olive Drab: od, Tan: tn, Gray: gy, Purple: pl, Brown: br.
Static (Low Elongation) Ropes BlueWater offered the worlds first static kernmantle rope for caving in 1969. This design evolved into the current BlueWater II Plus series of low elongation/static ropes. Today our ropes still set the world standard in quality, design and durability. It is vital for a low elongation rope to absorb the energy of accidental loading which could result in rope or anchor failure or individual injury. Only BlueWater ropes are designed to absorb this energy and limit these risks. The sheath and core strands of all BlueWater ropes are meticulously prepared prior to their final construction. This doubles the amount of time needed to manufacture each individual strand before braiding, but we feel the result is worth the extra time and attention.
Dynamic Ropes The best climbing ropes balance the following characteristics: light weight, low impact force, high fall rating, durability and superb handling. Our proprietary Duration Thermal Stabilization (DTS) process (where the nylon undergoes the critical heat treatment process) is so precise, it allows us to achieve the best balanced rope. Check for yourself, our ropes have the best specs period. Weve also raised the bar for dryness and rope longevity with our Double-Dry treatment. It is applied to each individual fiber in the sheath and core. Double-Dry allows just 1 1% water absorption (compared to the standard 20% to 30%) so your rope remains light and flexible under adverse conditions. Double-Dry also increases rope longevity and is an option on all of our dynamic cords. The more you know about ropes, the more youll demand BlueWater. Berry Amendment Ropes BlueWater manufactures a range of ropes and accessory cords that are 100% Berry Amendment Compliant. These products are 100% manufactured in the USA with all raw materials used in construction 100% made in the USA.
Specialty and OEM Ropes Specialty ropes are a favorite of ours. BlueWater has over 40 years of experience in developing custom rope and sewn products to fulfill OEM needs. Our expertise and knowledge is unsurpassed when it comes to designing the right product for your specific requirement. We have developed and currently supply ropes for all branches of the Armed Forces. Our extensive range of materials and colors empowers our OEM customers to customize their products. If you need consistent performance, high quality, and delivery, look no further than BlueWater.

ArmorTech
Arashield technology is a new concept in rope design. ArmorTech is the ideal rope for high heat situations such as welding or confined space entry where there exists the possibility of a flash fire or contact with a hot surface or welding slag. This unique, one of a kind, double sheath design also has excellent cut resistant properties. Constructed by braiding a 100% Technora sheath (decomposition temperature greater than 900 F!) over our 3/8 inch SafeLine model (polyester sheath/nylon core). 1/2 inch is UL Classified to NFPA 1983/2006 edition General use. This rope gives its user the ultimate in safety for extreme conditions. Sure-Grip
Another innovative, original design by BlueWater. The Sure-Grip series of ropes allow a better grip by alternating the size of the sheath strands. This is especially helpful when the rescuer is wearing gloves and/ or in inclement weather. The 9.5mm NFPA version has a braided Dyneema fiber core that gives the rope a high tensile strength and more cut resistance than polypropylene core strands. Dyneema has a low specific gravity so this rope floats high in the water. If you want the lightest and highest performing ropes in your bag, Sure-Grip is it! 9.5mm Dyneema Sure-Grip is UL Classified to NFPA 1983/2006 edition Water Rescue.
Econoline
An economical choice for a floating utility or throw bag rope. Constructed with a polypropylene sheath braided on a twisted hybrid polypropylene/nylon core.
HR3
is a new addition from BlueWater. Designed with a unique hybrid sheath of solution dyed Polyester and Polypropylene fibers. This rope has better cut and abrasion resistance than 100% Polypropylene sheathed ropes. The larger diameter is easier to grip especially with dry suit gloves. Works well in haul systems designed for rescue ropes. 100% Polypropylene block creel construction core strands.

Rope Use
Take special care to protect your rope from abrasion. This damage occurs most often when your rope comes into contact with rough or sharp edges of equipment. Man made structures, such as buildings or towers, pose a high risk for damaging or cutting ropes. Always use a rope pad between the rope and surfaces with which the rope may come in contact. Avoid stepping on your rope and keep your rope clean. A ground cloth should be used to keep the rope from being in direct contact with dirt or grit. Dirt and grit will shorten the life of your rope. Wash your rope occasionally in cold water with small amounts of BW Rope Wash or mild soap only. Rinse the rope in several baths of clean cold water to remove all soap residue. The rope must be air dried by loosely coiling and hanging away from direct sunlight or other heat sources. Do not use bleach or bleach substitutes! Keep rope away from open flame and high temperatures. Carry and store the rope so it is protected against ultraviolet light (including sunlight), chemicals, acids, alkalis, flame and high temperatures. Always use proper rappelling and belaying techniques. Fast rappels, bounding or swinging, positioning the rope over a sharp edge, dynamically loading a low elongation/static rope are some example of uses which damage your rope and/or cause failure. Additional information regarding life safety rope can be found in NFPA 1500, Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program, and NFPA 1983/2006 edition, Standard on Fire Service Life Safety Rope and System Components. NFPA Publications from National Fire Protection Association, 1 Batterymarch Park, P.O. Box 9101, Quincy, MA 02269-9101. Records are to be maintained by the purchaser or user of any rope including purchase date, serial number and sales receipt. An inspection record is to be kept including date of each use, location of use, conditions of use (weather, training, rescue), pre and post use inspection and the Inspectors name. BlueWater provides a rope log with each rope purchased for the convenience of the end user. An electronic file of a BW rope log can also be obtained from the download section of our website at www.bluewaterropes.com, suitable for printing. Maintain the original product labels. If they are removed to be retained in a permanent rope record, insure copies are made and kept with the rope for the benefit of the end user. If there is ever a question as to the safety of any equipment, remove from service, have it examined by a qualified examiner or destroy to prevent further use.
