Yngve Ekstrm
Swedese was founded in 1945 by the de sig ner Yngve Ekstrm.
The company is known not only for quality furniture in bent,
laminated wood. Today, Swedese is just as much a modern
producer of upholstered furni ture with a high degree of comfort
and technical innovation.
Along side the original factory in Vaggeryd, where the head office
is still located, Swedese has a second production plant in ng, Sweden.
Craftmanship alongside Swedeses ideals to create beautiful furniture
for the future has resulted in numerous design awards all over the world.
Good design is universal.
Furniture designer, artist, entrepreneur and inventor. Yngve Ekstrm
started his professional life as a furniture carpenter in the village of
Vaggeryd in Smland, Sweden, and soon became one of the leading
names in the field of Swedish modern furniture design. Multi-talented
as he was, he designed over 150 different models of furniture, lamps
and fabrics that all went into production.
The designs of Yngve Ekstrm are characterised by applying the
quality and beautiful lines of a craftsman to the function of the product.
He condensed his philosophy into a favourite quote.
He, who has already matured to appreciate great simplicity,
does not need a large apparatus to lead a good life, neither for
his body nor for his soul.
