OUR HISTORY
Our legacy of providing a globally relevant and practical
education has made us the worlds
largest ranked graduate business school.
1964A practical business education
In 1964, the school was established as
Americas rst corporate university, then
known as the Arthur D. Little School of
Management (ADL). ADL focused on
delivering a practical business education
for managers. The teaching pedagogy was
different because it emphasized Action
Learningapplying classroom theory
in the real world. This methodology was
honed over 40 years and is central to Hults
pioneering approach to practical business
education today.
2003The worlds most
international business school
In 2003, one of Europes most successful
entrepreneurs, Bertil Hult, provided critical
nancial support to expand the schools
innovative teaching methodology to go
beyond simply training students to become
effective managers by also preparing
them to thrive on a global stage. Believing
that students must experience cultural
differences and international business
practices rsthand, Mr. Hult grew the
school from its single Boston location
to a global network of home campuses
including San Francisco, London, Dubai,
and Shanghai and a rotation center in New
York, under the name Hult International
Business School.
TodayThe worlds largest ranked
graduate business school
Hults compelling vision of a practical and
global business education has attracted
students from around the world. Today,
Hult has grown to become the worlds
largest ranked graduate business school.
Our growth demonstrates the tremendous
demand for an innovative approach to
business education.

A unique focus on soft skills: Going
beyond spreadsheets and case studies
Great leaders are made, not born.
Hults curriculum is designed to prepare
you for todays complex and rapidly
changing business environment. At the
beginning of the year, Hult MBAs are
evaluated on their natural strengths and
weaknesses. Then through a unique
blend of classroom instruction, targeted
practice, and constructive feedback,
students acquire the essential soft skills
they needfrom public speaking to
decision-making in volatile situations
to transform them into genuine leaders.
By the end of our 12-month program,
graduates have what it takes to thrive in
todays business world.
The Hult Impact Challenge
the ultimate practical
learning experience
Throughout the year, you will work on a
team project known as the Hult Impact
Challenge. You and your teammates
may propose a new business start-up,
work in conjunction with an existing
company to solve a business problem,
or help an NGO address a social issue.
At the end of the program, teams
present their solutions to a panel of
judges. Finalists compete in front of the
entire MBA student body to be crowned
the global champion. As the capstone
of your MBA, the Hult Impact Challenge
is an extraordinary way to hone your
practical skills while pursuing a specic
area of interest.

Hults unique Global Rotation
Todays global economy rewards people
who can traverse borders, understand
cultures, and operate in international
contexts. Hult offers you an amazing
chance to see the world while you study
alongside peers of 140 nationalities who
collectively speak 105 languages. As
part of the Global Rotation Program, you
can pick your home campus and then
spend up to three months studying at
two others. Begin your degree program
in Boston, then travel to Shanghai via
San Francisco, or Dubai via London or
New York. Youll get an inside look at the
worlds fastest-growing economies and
examine international business practices
close-up. (See p. 12.)
The rst MBA curriculum designed
by business leaders
Proprietary research conducted by Hult
Labs conclusively shows that traditional
MBA programs arent providing students
with the skills that elite employers want.
Senior executives at companies like
Accenture, IBM, and Unilever have told
us that todays MBA graduates lack
both soft skills and practical experience.
Hult has completely redesigned its
MBA curriculum in conjunction with
top CEOs and HR executives to ensure
that all our MBA students graduate with
these essential capabilities, as well as
knowledge of the core business areas of
nance, marketing, and strategy.
Graduate in Davos, Switzerland:
Hults Global MBA Summit
For the MBA programs nal week, all
students, from every campus worldwide,
converge in the beautiful Swiss resort of
Davos for Hults Global MBA Summit.
Here, students compete against each
other in the nal rounds of the Hult
Impact Challenge. They also have
the opportunity to hear directly from
pioneering thinkers and business leaders,
and attend presentations on the latest
business trends. The Summit culminates
with a graduation ceremony held at the
world-famous Davos Congress Centre,
the home of the annual World Economic
Forum. (See p. 36.)
Faculty who possess hands-on
business experience
Unlike other business schools that are
research-oriented, most of Hults faculty
have real-world experience. Many have
worked for companies like McKinsey,
Coca-Cola, and Credit Suisse, while
others have run their own businesses
or developed their own patents. Hults
professors have taught and worked in
developed economies and emerging
markets, providing you with a unique
lens on international business.

My home campus was Boston
and I rotated to Shanghai and then
London. I chose these locations
because Boston, Shanghai, and London
are three major centers of education
on different continents.
Global Rotation gave me the opportunity
to study and live in new countries, and
experience different cultures. You cant
compare the experience of going on
vacation or a business trip to living in a
country for two months.
I was able to meet people from different
countries and backgrounds, and I had
the chance to get to know even more
people when I rotated to Shanghai and
London, all of which has been excellent
in helping to build my global network.

I was instantly hooked by Hults
level of global reach and integration.
The idea that you could start out in
London, move to Shanghai, and finish in
the U.S., all while receiving a consistent
and harmonized standard of education,
was very appealing to me. I would have
to say that the main driver for my
choice was the international diversity
of London. In my experience, London
is one of the few cities in the world that
is truly global.
My main aspiration in rotating to
Shanghai was to gain an insight into
the Chinese economy, and it was an
absolutely worthwhile experience.
Studying and living in Shanghai has
effectively opened my eyes to many
of the challenges and idiosyncrasies
of the Chinese market.

Hult Labs: at the forefront of
business education excellence
Hult Labs was created to research
the effectiveness of business
education. Under the leadership of
Dr. Mark Fuller (Founder of Monitor,
one of the worlds most prestigious
consulting rms, and formerly of the
Harvard Business School), Hult Labs
partners with the academic faculty
at our global campuses to pilot
cutting-edge teaching methods and
technological innovations.
90 interviews with leading CEOs and employers told us
that the standard MBA curriculum is good at teaching theory, but fails to
deliver graduates with soft skills and practical experience.
BUSINESS LEADERS AGREE:
THE TRADITIONAL MBA IS LACKING
Employers believe todays MBA is
missing two important elements
In 2012, Hult Labs partnered with
some of the worlds biggest employers
to conduct a comprehensive study on
the effectiveness of todays standard
MBA curriculum. Our researchers
interviewed CEOs, senior executives,
and hiring managers from major MBA
employers to understand exactly what
they were looking for. The feedback
was nearly unanimous: MBA programs
are great at teaching business theory,
but fail to prepare their graduates
adequately in two critical areas
interpersonal soft skills and practical
business experience. We have rebuilt
our MBA curriculum to address these
two problems.

Problem one: MBAs dont learn
interpersonal soft skills
Employers told us that knowing how
to get things done is as important as
knowing what to do. MBA programs
will always need to teach the theories
behind nance, marketing, and
operations. But without also addressing
key interpersonal skills such as the
ability to communicate clearly, motivate
a team, and resolve conicts, the actual
impact an MBA graduate can make in
the real world is limited. Most traditional
business programs assume these soft
skills to be innate qualities that students
either possess or do not. Hult disagrees.
We believe they are competencies that
can be learned and improved through
practice and constructive feedback.
(See p. 33.)
Problem two: MBAs dont
graduate with practical experience
Todays business world moves
fast and is inherently complex and
ambiguous. Employers felt strongly
that while business theory can be
learned using the traditional case
study methodology, case studies
all too often make enterprise look
easybecause the data is complete
and accurate. Employers seek to
hire graduates who have rsthand
experience of how messy the real
world can be, who can function in
this uncertainty, and who can make
sound decisions under pressure. Hult
believes that such real-world practice
must be an essential component of
any MBA curriculum. (See p. 34.)
31 hult.edu 31 hult.edu
Dr. Yasar Jarrar
Partner, Bain & Company
We need MBA graduates to be able to identify opportunities and
structure solutions. We need real entrepreneurship. Very few
people can spot opportunities. In many ways, the traditional MBA
experience does not provide suffcient opportunities for students
to engage in the real world. They can do business planning and
analysis, and produce slides and reports, but they dont engage
enough in real issues and opportunities; they need to learn to
manage the complexity out there.
Our hands-on approach to learning
helps you become job-ready from day one.

I would say the most important skill is being able to infuence
people effectively and being able to make things happen. Also, being
able to deal with people who dont report to you, and communicating
your ideas and getting their buy-in, which are key.

TEACHING SOFT SKILLS
IN A HARD WAY
Our groundbreaking new curriculum ensures that every Hult MBA student learns not only
the basics of business, but how to connect with others and make things happen.
Reinventing the MBA curriculum to
include soft skills
Employers feel that hard skills such as
accounting, marketing, and strategy are
only one part of the equation. They are
looking to hire MBA graduates with soft
skills. These are people who can connect
the dots and actually make things
happenwho know how to inuence
the world around them, articulate
their ideas clearly, and build strong
relationships. Hult has created the rst-
ever MBA curriculum to ensure that every
graduate of the program has the ve key
competencies (see right) necessary to get
the job done in the real world.
The DNA of a Hult MBA
Hults curriculum provides you with the
theory, tools, terminology, and trends
for a solid understanding of business.
However, what makes the Hult MBA
unique is the addition of a Professional
Development track that focuses on your
ability to harness and apply business
knowledge with a nesse that is often
labeled as soft skills. By mastering the
key competencies of adaptive thinking,
communication, relationships, teamwork,
and execution, Hult MBAs graduate from
the program as savvy, mission-driven,
globally aware leaders who can produce
results in collaboration with others.

A truly transformative education
The Hult MBA is designed to be a
transformative educational experience,
one in which you not only develop
professionally, but also personally. These
are not just wordsits something we
actively measure. Everyone has strengths
and weaknesses. Knowing what yours
are is the essential starting point for your
development. At the beginning of the
year, all Hult MBAs are evaluated relative
to the ve key competencies. Throughout
the program, you are regularly assessed
so that you can see your progress
and understand the impact your MBA
experience is having on you. Our goal
is for you to emerge from your MBA
program as an inspired and truly
effective leader.
The only MBA to fully integrate
soft skills into its curriculum
We have based Hults Professional
Development track on the corporate
leadership programs developed by the
worlds leading companies. Employers
have long realized that these ve
key competencies cannot be entirely
learned in a classroom. Ultimately, they
are acquired over time with continual
practice and feedback, and often require
signicant unlearning of embedded
behavioral patterns.
Hult MBA students develop these
competencies throughout the program
in multiple iterations of training sessions
and team exercises reinforced by peer
coaching, feedback, and personal
planning. Facilitating the process is
a Navigator whose role is to help
individuals develop their interpersonal
soft skills.
Five key competencies every Hult MBA graduate will master
Hult has developed a distinct Professional Development model for
teaching soft skills across ve key competencies. These skills were
identied by top employers as essential to business success:
34
Hults MBA helps you apply the business concepts you learn in class
to real-world situations by seamlessly integrating competitive simulations
and the Hult Impact Challenge into the curriculum.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE:
GOING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Putting theory into practice
The key concepts of business can
certainly be introduced by a teacher,
case study, or textbook. But they
cannot be truly mastered until they are
put into practice. The Hult MBA takes
its students out of the classroom and
into the real world of business. We
challenge you to apply the knowledge
you have learned and practice the
skills you have acquired. This is
achieved through two key pillars of our
curriculum: competitive simulations
and the Hult Impact Challenge.
Competitive simulations:
Learning to walk before you can run
Before setting foot in the real world,
pilots and military personnel routinely
use simulations to learn how to
respond to high-intensity challenges
in a safe environment. Similarly, we
have devised a series of competitive
simulations to provide you with an
immersive experience that captures the
complexity and ambiguities of the real
world. In fact, were the only MBA to
fully integrate competitive simulations
into our curriculum across all key
disciplines. Many of these simulations
have been developed in conjunction
with major corporations to develop
leadership talent. Our competitive
simulations range from short 45-minute
exercises to nail concepts like
negotiation, pricing, and marketing
to longer three-day workshops
covering topics like product launches,
new business strategies, and
corporate turnarounds.
The Hult Impact Challenge:
Putting your skills to the test
The Hult Impact Challenge is a
year-long team exercise designed to
hone your hard skills, team skills, and
entrepreneurial skills.
Students form teams and choose a
business challenge from one of three
distinct tracks:
Corporate: Work on a challenge
set by a major company. An airline
may challenge students to deal with
the impact of social media on their
business, from advertising to pricing
and customer service.
Entrepreneurial: Devise a business
plan for a new product that can be
tested and ready for venture capital
investment. Ideas can range from
creating a new type of ice cream
shop to an innovative mobile app.
Social: Attack a social problem
with a business solution, either as
a start-up or by partnering with an
existing non-prot organization. You
can choose from a range of pressing
social issues such as improving
access to quality education in Brazil
or bringing clean water to the slums
of India.
No matter which track you choose,
your goal is to develop the most game-
changing business idea imaginable
and make it happen. Beyond that,
there are no rules.
Compete to be crowned
the global winner
Participation in the Hult Impact
Challenge is a graduation requirement.
No matter which track you chose,
you are required to work in a team to
develop an innovative solution, make
solid headway on its implementation,
and present your progress to a panel
of external judges at the end of the
program. Through an elimination-
based competition, a global winner of
each track will be crowned.
In many ways, the Hult Impact
Challenge is the capstone course
of the entire program, since students
have to utilize all the skills and
knowledge they have learned to make
it to the nal round of competition in
Davos, Switzerland.
Personalize your MBA
The Hult Impact Challenge provides
you with an exceptional opportunity
to customize your MBA experience
because you can focus on an area of
personal or professional interest.
Do you want to start your own
company, advise a Fortune 500
company, or make the world a better
place? The work you complete on your
project may well be the start of your
future career.
35 hult.edu
We know that 70 percent of what you learn comes from what you
do; attending a program contributes a much smaller percentage to
your learning. So a program that emphasizes culture and soft skills
requires a more hands-on approach. It is really about getting people
to work on real projects with companies.

When I went to school, my education was very U.S.-centricyou
cant be that way anymore. Youve got to give people a global
education and outlook. It is essential in the business world of the
future to give people an understanding of how to do business
around the world. Business school grads have to be people who can
do business across borders. If a business school can help students
understand that and bridge cultures, it can create opportunities.

It is important, too, that MBA graduates understand what it
means to be a 21

understand the corporations role in society and come to grips with
how to make capitalism work in a world that is much more volatile.

Specialization
The demand for skilled project
managers is urgent and
growing. About 80 percent of
all major projects fail to meet
expectations because of cost
overruns or substandard quality,
and less than 20 percent are
completed on time. Strong
project management can
mean the difference between
businesses that thrive and those
that fail.
Hults Project Management

skills required to manage major
projects for multinationals,

Designed to give you the

Meet Colin Pyle
Hult MBA Class of 2012, Entrepreneur,
Adventurer, and former Financier:
Colin established a start-up
currency brokerage rm,
growing it from its original
two-person team to a robust
and protable enterprise with
25 employees and annual
revenues in excess of USD3
million. He played a pivotal
role in positioning the company for continued
growth through acquisition, and eventually
sold his company to a large nancial services
rm in Toronto.
Prior to joining Hults MBA program, Colin hit the
road with his brother Ryan for a Guinness World
Record-breaking, 18,000-km motorbike ride
across Chinaan incredible 65-day journey that
took them through some of the countrys most
populous and remote regions.
Colin and his brother lmed the entire adventure
for a documentary series for a major TV network.
Together, they launched their award-winning
content production company, G219 Productions,
in order to produce both the television
documentary and a book about their Middle
Kingdom ride.
Since graduating in 2012, Colin has continued
to run his multiple businesses. With the goal
of visiting all the BRICS countries, he also
embarked on another epic motorcycle ride with
his brother. This time, the brothers traveled to
the remotest corners of India by motorcycle and
produced another television documentary of
their intense, 54-day India ride. Colin also
keeps this interest alive by participating on
the Committee of Advisors for the Ted Simon
Foundation, a travel foundation specializing in
motorcycle adventures.
What attracted you to Hults MBA program?
I was in a global industry and knew I wanted
to work internationally. There is no school that
has the same global offering that Hult doesit
offers the ability to have a truly global education,
with its international campuses and amazingly
diverse network of students. After my one year at
Hult, I have hundreds of new contacts that I can
leverage in every corner of the world.

Why did you choose the London campus?
I have always loved Europe and wanted to work
here. My MBA was a great reason for me to
relocate from North America to Europe. Since
language skills are not a strength of mine, Hult
London was a natural t. London is the center of
the worldeverything is going on and happening
here. Ive met so many amazing people in this
city, and every night there is an event with a
successful and inspirational business leader.

What advice would you give to others hoping
to pursue an MBA?
I think people need to really have a great and
honest understanding of where they want to
be after their MBA. Its not a year off to gure
out what you want to do and hope something
falls into your lap. You need to look at your MBA
as a start-up of a company, with a budget,
targets, and future specic goals. The better you
understand exactly what you want, the better
you can direct your efforts into a focused plan for
your future.

I came to Hult because of the schools focus on Action
Learning, or learning by doing. I also really wanted to gain
an American-style education and liked the fact that Hult had
a campus in Boston. At Hult, I learned how to lead a team in
a multinational environment.

Artem Yudin Russia, Class of 2009
Chief Executive Officer, Medikraft LLC
I wanted to attend an American school and was
looking for a one-year MBA program. Hult was the ideal
choice for meit offered a great location, good selection

the right decision.

and our instructors provided us with practical and relevant
guides to succeed not only in finding a job but also in
distinguishing ourselves in our professional lives.

One of the things I most appreciate from my MBA

different business trips in a year and five job rotations
exactly what it is to do business in todays global economy.

Lola Adenekan Nigeria, Class of 2010

The most valuable thing Hult has provided me with is

what I have learned at Hult and applying it to a challenging
new position with new responsibilities.

Omer Weinberger Israel, Class of 2010
Senior Associate, Corbett Keeling Ltd.
Although I have lived in several major cities and worked
in many industries in my life, the one year I spent with Hult
had the strongest impact so far. The relationships created

to come. Hults graduates definitely fit the global player
descriptionwe see the world as a global village and can
easily be placed in a new location and operate there with
no hesitation.

Hults students come from around 140 different countries.
That has built up the basis of my international social
network, and, on top of that, it has also enhanced class
discussions with diverse real-world experiences from various
cultures. The faculty, consisting of sophisticated academics,
entrepreneurs, and practitioners, allowed me to consolidate
two of my key skills: solid academic knowledge and
hands-on experiences working effectively in the real world.
All those contribute a lot to my career opportunities around
the world.

Luis Morales Montes Mexico, Class of 2012
Associate, MSCI
The MBA helped me to make my career changeit has
made me more open-minded and offered me knowledge
of different industries and job functions. The Alumni
Association also helped me to secure my current position
at MSCI. I met a former Hult student working at MSCI at
an event organized by the Corporate Relations team. The
support that I got from the Hult Career Services team was
essential in preparing me for the interviews I had at MSCI.

MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Launch your career with a one-year,
intensive Master of International Business.
Meet the challenges of the
global marketplace
A strong understanding of how the
world is interconnected through finance,
marketing, operations, economics, and
strategy gives students an immediate
head start to launch their careers.
Hults Master of International Business
(MIB) degree helps students acquire
practical business knowledge with a
focus on international and cross-cultural
understanding of the marketplace.
This degree is particularly well suited
to recent university graduates (both
business and non-business majors) who
do not have work experience.
Hults Global Rotation Program
Our business school is ranked 2
nd

for International Course Experience
and 4
th
for International Business by
the Financial Times (2014). We firmly
believe that an international perspective
is crucial to understanding todays
business issues. Hults Global Rotation
Program allows students to gain critical
insights into the worlds key economies
and firsthand international business
experience. You can pursue your MIB
degree at our Boston, San Francisco,
London, Dubai, or Shanghai campus.
During Modules D and E, you can
choose to remain at your home campus
or study at a different Hult campus or
our rotation center in New York.

Hults curriculum combines hard skills
with lessons in decision-making
and strategy
Hults MIB curriculum delivers an
understanding of todays global
marketplace. Initially, students focus
on learning hard skills in international
finance, marketing, operations, and
strategy. Subsequently, through hands-
on projects, they also gain the analytical,
problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
necessary to make decisions in a rapidly
evolving, cross-cultural world.
Action Projects give you
great exposure
Recognizing that innovation is key to
sustaining a competitive advantage and
driving growth, Hults Action Projects
ensure that you have the chance to
apply what you have learned in a true
business setting, preparing you fully for
your future careers. Under the guidance
of a faculty advisor, student teams will
help a business develop a bold and
bankable idea for future growth. The team
will aim to develop insights about the
particular industry and business, identify
breakthrough ideas, develop a business
concept, and build an implementation
plan to present to senior executives.
Career opportunities
Hults Career Services team works closely
with students to develop the skills to
define, set, and achieve their professional
career goals. Work starts as soon as
students arrive on campus. In the fall,
students take an intensive set of classes
on career decision-making, rsum
writing, networking, interviewing, and
personal branding.
Throughout the year, students can
choose from a range of workshops, group
sessions, and events focusing on industry
insights, developing employability, and
keeping the job search focused.
Project Management Specialization:
The importance of project managers
In todays business world, the demand
for skilled project managers is urgent
and growing. About 80 percent of all
major projects fail to meet expectations
because of cost overruns or substandard
quality, and less than 20 percent are
completed on time. Projects with the
need for strong managers are expanding
not only in terms of numbers but also in
terms of scale, scope, and medium.
Hults Project Management specialization
will equip you with the technical and
people skills required to manage major
projects for multinationals, family
businesses, and NGOs.

of the workforce. Nonetheless, we
understand that financing an MBA
can be challenging, particularly for
international students. Furthermore,
because the course is so intense, it is
not possible for students to work in
parallel with their studies. We work
with you to help find the most beneficial
funding options to cover your
education-related costs. These options
include scholarships, fellowships, and
education loans.
Scholarships
Hult offers a range of merit-based and
need-based scholarships to reduce
the program cost burden. These are
available to all students regardless
of citizenship. Alumni-sponsored
scholarships are offered as well. To
be considered for these scholarships,
we encourage you to apply early.
Decisions on scholarships are made
only after an offer of admission has
been communicated.
Fellowships
A limited number of fellowships are
available to accepted students. These
fellowships offer students the opportunity
to work with Hult faculty and staff
members for approximately eight hours
per week. The number of fellowships
varies from year to year and from
campus to campus. The fellowships
available each year are communicated
to students at the start of the school
year. All accepted students may apply for
any fellowship position for which they
feel qualified.
Education loans
The majority of our students utilize
some form of education loan, even if
they receive a scholarship or fellowship.
Students requiring financing for
their program fees have two main
loan options:
Bank loan
Financial institutions in many countries
offer MBA education financing
specifically to local citizens. These loans
are typically repayable after completion
of the course, although terms vary
widely. We are happy to work with
our students to help them identify
suitable financial institutions to which to
apply for these loans.
GoEd Student Financing
Hult has established a
partnership with GoEd Student
Financing to offer student loans
to international students. These loans
offer very competitive interest rates.
The loans are typically offered over
five years, with repayments starting six
months after graduation.
