3 Register of Qualified and Certified Personnel
The WTIA has a searchable database of all qualifications and certifications issued by the WTIA since 2000.
The Australian Welding Institute (AWI) established in 1929 was amalgamated into the WTIA in 1989.
Qualifications issued from 1952 to 2000 by the WTIA and AWI are being added to the database on request
from the individual. A full register of qualifications and certifications before this date is maintained at the
WTIA. To visit the database please go to www.wtiacertification.com.au and follow the links.
The courses, qualifications and certifications link all trainees to the Welding Coordination Team as shown

19 Information on the International Institute of Welding (IIW)
The IIW was founded in 1948 by the welding institutes or societies of 13 countries, which felt the need to make more rapid scientific and
technical progress possible on a global basis. Since then, welding associations in 56 countries make up the members and more and
more are indicating interest.
IIWs Mission is to Act as the world-wide network for knowledge exchange of joining technologies to improve the global quality of life.
Through the IIW International Authorisation Board (IAB), 46 of the IIW Member Countries offer a harmonised international system for the
education, training, qualification and certification of welding personnel. The WTIA is the IIW Authorised National Body (ANB) for
Australia. Twenty two of the IIW Member Countries offer a harmonised international system for the certification of companies to ISO
3834:2008 and ISO 14731 Welding coordination Task and responsibilities.
WTIA is the IIW Authorised National Body for Company Certification (ANBCC) for Australia and issues certification to the IIW
Manufacturer Certification Scheme According to ISO 3834 (IIW MCS ISO 3834).
