Asia TEFL Membership

I. TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

A. Individual Membership

1. INDIVIDUAL (Type 1)
These membership fees apply to the following countries/regions:
Japan
Korea
Malaysia
Singapore
Taiwan
Hong Kong
Israel
Saudi Arabia
UAE
Qatar
Kuwait
Oman

General Membership Fees
1-year subscription USD 20
3-year subscription USD 50
5-year subscription USD 80
Lifetime subscription USD 250

Fees for Students, Retirees, Current Primary and Secondary School
English Teachers
1-year subscription USD 10
3-year subscription USD 25
5-year subscription USD 40
Lifetime subscription USD 125 (Not available to students)

2. INDIVIDUAL (Type 2)
These membership fees apply to all Asian countries/regions not listed in 1-1
above.

General Membership Fees

Fees for Students, Retirees, Current Primary and Secondary School
English Teachers

These membership fees apply to all countries/regions outside of Asia.

General Membership Fees

II. MEMBERSHIP STATUSES

Individual Membership (Full)
This membership status is the general status for individuals who are
professionally engaged in the teaching of English language and education in
the English language. This full membership shall be for both fixed-term and
lifetime members. Full members shall enjoy the full benefits and rights of the
Association , including voting rights and eligibility to hold office in Asia TEFL.

Institutional Membership
This membership status is granted to educational and academic institutions
and organizations involved in the teaching, promotion, or advancement of
English language education. Membership is renewable annually. Institutional
membership provides the institution full memberships to three currently
employed personnel nominated by the management of the institution.
Included in these full memberships are all rights and benefits of the
Association other than voting rights and eligibility to hold office in Asia TEFL.

Corporate Membership
This membership status may be granted to any institution or organization
outside of the field of English education. Membership is renewable annually.
Corporate membership provides the institution full memberships to three
currently employed personnel nominated by the management of the institution.
Included in these full memberships are all rights and benefits of the
Association other than voting rights and eligibility to hold office in Asia TEFL.
Membership also offers the institution or organization with special privileges
as per prior negotiation with Asia TEFL.

III. MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

A. Individual Members (Full)
Privilege of being part of an International Professional Organization.
Receive four electronic issues annually of the Journal of Asia TEFL.
Receive regular online updates concerning the activities of Asia TEFL.
Receive discounts of 20% or more on Asia TEFL Conferences rates.
Be eligible to compete for specific awards presented by Asia TEFL, such as
the Best Scholarly Paper Award.
Have the right to serve on any of the various Asia TEFL committees and sub-
committees.
Have the right to participate in the regional representative election in your
region, and at the annual business meeting of Asia TEFL.
Have the privilege of primary consideration (all else being equal) for
publication in the Journal of Asia TEFL and other Asia TEFL publications.
Receive a 20% discount on subscription rates for the print version of the
Journal.
Receive a digital membership certificate by email.

B. Institutional/Corporate Members
All privileges of individual membership, except voting rights and eligibility to
hold office in Asia TEFL.
Three (3) members of the Institution may attend Asia TEFL conferences,
workshops, and seminars at special rates.
Opportunity to request English language training at special rates.
Opportunity to apply for product and program endorsements.
Opportunity to apply for approval to place the Asia TEFL logo in their official
place of business.
Four electronic issues annually of the Journal of Asia TEFL.

IV. MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS

After payment of the membership fee, the membership application form is to be
sent to Asia TEFL. When receipt of both the membership fee and the application
form are confirmed, the membership is approved. Members will receive
notification of membership approval via email along with a digital membership
certificate.

Payment Method
Membership fee payments are to be made directly to Asia TEFL only by (1)
PayPal (Internet-based service), (2) money order, and (3) Bank transfer.
Asia TEFL Regional Representatives may, however, seek written consent
from Asia TEFL to collect fees from members in their region who live in areas
without adequate IT access. In this event, the Regional Representative is
responsible for submitting fees collected via the same mode and manner of
payment as stated above.
