By gods grace I have toured extensively throughout India visiting different religious places and I thought that I should share the knowledge for all who want to religious places. It is also recommended to start visiting pilgrimage places at early age when the body supports especially for places like Manasasarovar,Muktinath,Chardham and other places. Its well knows fact that we will never have time unless we adjust it from our busy schedules. For convenience of one and all I have classified the places I have visited as following categories
ASHTAKSHARA KSHETRAS ASHTAKSHARA KSHETRAS
Swayam Vyakta Kshetras of Lord Vishnu "Om Namo Narayanaya" -Ashtakshara mantram.Just like Jyotirlings which are swayumbu kshetras there are 8 ashtakshara swayam vyakta kshetras of lord vishnu as said by Swami Ramanujam. The sloka is as follows:
In this verse Lord Narayana points out that the eight Swayam Vyakta Kshetrams of Srirangam, Tirupathi, SrimushNam, Vanamamalai, Salagramam, Badri, and NaimisharaNyam and Pushkar. The Lord as the Archa Murthy at each of these Kshetrams signifies one Aksharam of his Ashtakshara Mantram.
1. SRIRANGAM Legend Srirangam is the foremost of the self manifested shrines(as said above) of Lord Vishnu and also considered the first, foremost and the most important of the 108 main Vishnu temples (Divyadesams)..As far as my knowledge goes on Srirangam is the only temple where Srirangam town is located inside the temple unlike other temples which are located in the town. Srirangam is an island and is surrounded by cauvery river
According to legends this deity was first worshiped by Lord Brahma and it was subsequently given to King Ikshvaku to worship, which he brought to his captial, Ayodhya. Eventually Lord Rama worshiped the deity. After Rama defeated Ravana, he made Ravana's brother Vibhishana as the King of Lanka. As a symbol of love towards Vibishana ,he gifted the idol to Vibishana to take back with him to Sri Lanka. He was instructed never to keep the idol on ground on the way and to keep it down only when he reaches Lanka. Vibishana took this idol and was traveling towards Sri Lanka, and came upon the banks of the river Cauvery, during when utsavam (festival) for the god had to be performed and he placed the idol on banks of river Kaveri. When the utsavam got over, the lord refused to move as he loved the place (Srirangam). When vibhishana requested him to come along with him, the lord refused but promised to bless Vibhishana by always facing South (the direction of Sri Lanka, home to Vibhishana, normally its is east) Hence it is that the deity (in a reclining posture) faces South.
Visit the place for the blessings of Lord Rangannatha
Location: Srirangam is in Tamilnadu and is located 12 kms from Tiruchirappalli town and Tiruchirapaalli is well connected by train ,roads and has an airport
2. TIRUPATI Legend Once all the saints assembled to conduct a sacred sacrifice for the well-being of the world and questions were raised as to whom of the three Gods should the result of sacrifice should go?Finally Saint Bhrugu was directed to find out to which of the three gods the sacrifice to go? Saint Bhrugu has earlier did powerful penance and has third eye in his inner foot. After visitng kailasha and brahma loka Saint bhrugu visited Vaikunta, home of lord Vishnu. Bhrugu reached Vaikunta , the home of Lord Mahavishnu.Vishnu was lying upon the snake which is his bed. Narayana ( Vishnu ) pretended not seeing Brughu and continued talking to his wife.and neglected Brughu.Enraged Brughu put his foot on the chest of Narayana.Narayana fell on the feet of Brughu and he destroyed the third eye in the foot of Brughu .On loosing the eye brughu lost all his arrogance. He understood his guilt and praised Vishnu. He returned to the saints and declared that Mahavishnu is the one to whom the sacrificial results be given. Lakshmi Devi's adobe is in Vishnu's chest. When Brughu put his foot on it , lord Vishnu did not get angry , instead fell at Brughu's feet .This act irked Goddess Lakshmi and goes to kalapuram and did penance Searching for Lakshmi lord vishnu comes and stays with lord varaha and as he did not money to pay to lard varaha he grants a boon to lord varaha that his bhakta visit first lord varaha before visiting him.So its mandatory to visit lord varaha before lord venkateshwa in tirupati and it is also highly recommended to visit Kolhapur after the visit of Tirupati. Location Tirupathi, is in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and is accessible by air, rail as well as road. Getting to the temple town is quite easy, since a well planned network of railways and roadways connects it with other parts of India. The Indian system of belief in Divinity also worships the divine as a manifestation of these basic elements.
