M4 EP- Thixotropic, high strength, non-flow, epoxy
bedding and repair mortar
DESCRIPTION & FEATURE

M4 EP is a 100 % Solids, two component,
aggregates filled epoxy mortar.
It is a NON-SAG gel (thixotropic paste) with
excellent adhesion, high strength, with
excellent physical properties and easy to
use as versatile general purpose adhesive
mortar.
M4 EP is a stiff but easily workable
compound that can be applied by trowel,
spatula or knife. It cures to give high
mechanical properties typical of epoxy
compounds. It is resistant to oils, greases,
petroleum, salts, many acids and alkalis and
most commonly met corrosive media. It
does not shrink on curing, and is designed
to be used when cured from below freezing
point to 60C. Its impact resistance, and
mechanical strength is greater than that of
concrete.
Chemical resistant
Insensitive to moisture during application,
cure or whilst in service
Applicable at low temperatures
Excellent adhesion to most building
materials even when damp
High abrasion resistance
Approved for use in contact with potable
water
High early strength
High tensile and flexural strength
Supplied in factory proportioned units
Easily applied
Shrink free

FIELD OF APPLICATION:

Bedding bridge beams or steel bridge
bearings.
Repairing surface defects or to
honeycombing
concrete in horizontal, vertical or overhead
situations.
Fixing slip bricks to concrete.
Securing bolts into walls.
Dowel bars anchoring.
As a gap filling adhesive.
Filling bolt pockets.
Bedding tiles.
Repairing concrete posts in-situ.
Fixing of surface ports for crack injection.

INDUSTRIAL FLOORING

M4 EP- Thixotropic, high strength, non-flow, epoxy bedding and repair mortar

Application procedure
Preparation:
All loose particles, laitance, dust and grease etc., must
be removed prior to application of M4 EP.

Mixing:
The 3kg pack has been designed to be readily mixed
by trowel. Where more than one pack is to be mixed at
a time, a portable mixer is suitable.
Application:
Knife or trowel M4 EP to the required level using the
minimum of solvent on the trowel to aid workability.
The surface may be finished smooth by use of a paint
brush dipped in CLEANING SOLVENT NO. 2. Where
a very deep recess is to be filled, it may be necessary
to build up in layers. Repairs may be camouflaged if
required by covering surface with cement powder
before full cure is affected.

Working temperature:
M4EP will cure at temperatures as low as 0C,
although at low temperatures cure is retarded.

Coverage
3kg is sufficient to cover 1.1 m at 1.5mm thickness.

Equipment care
Clean with CLEANING SOLVENT NO. 2 immediately
after use.

PHYSIOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR, SAFETY
MEASURES,
LABELLING AND DISPOSAL: The above products
are physiologically harmless after curing. Please refer
to the EC Safety Data Sheet for more information on
safety measures, product labeling and disposal.
The VBG 23 accident prevention regulations on the
application of coatings "Verarbeiten von
Beschichtungsstoffen", and data sheet M017
"Lsungsmittel" (Solvents) of the German
Berufsgenossenschaft der Chemischen Industrie
(Government Safety Organisation of the Chemical
Industry) must be observed.
Always wear protective goggles and nitrile gloves
during application.

Storage
Store under cover out of direct sunlight and protect
from extremes of temperature. In tropical climates the
product must be stored in an air conditioned
environment. Failure to comply with the recommended
storage conditions may result in premature
deterioration of the product or packaging. For specific
storage advice consult PAGELs representative.
STANDARD / APPROVALS:

Testing according to ASTM C881M-02 Type 1, Grade 3
and Class B+C
Testing according to EN 1504-4
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:

M4 EP has excellent resistance to the following: most
aqueous systems, sewage, urine, fresh water, sea
water, diluted and concentrated alkalis, diluted acids,
sulphur gases, mineral, vegetable and animal oils and
fats, ammonia and formaldehyde.
