A brief description about the structure of the Aptitude Test and other details are given on the overleaf. Please go through these
instructions carefully and come prepared for the Aptitude Test. Based on the result of this Test, selected students will be invited
to appear for an interview to be held at various centers in the country during the month of December 2014/January 2015. Letters
inviting selected students for interview will be dispatched in the last week of November 2014. Thank you for your keen interest in
KVPY Program.
Please bring the Admit Card along with you for the examination. In addition to the admit card, students must bring another
valid School/College ID with the clear photograph. Produce the same to the invigilator on request. Students without the
Admit Card and valid ID will not be permitted to appear for the aptitude test. Please note that expenses towards travel,
boarding and lodging will NOT be reimbursed by KVPY for attending the Aptitude Test.

1. You are advised to go over to the examination center at least half an hour before the commencement of the test.
(i.e. 1.30 p.m.)
2. The students seat number and the room number in which the test will be conducted will be displayed in each
center. Please check the location of your room. Before entering the room, please show your ADMIT CARD and
VALID ID to the Invigilator.
3. The syllabus for the aptitude test is broadly equivalent to the XII standard level of National and State Board
Examinations.
4. The test is of 3 hours duration (2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
5. The question paper consists of two parts (both contain only multiple choice questions) for 100 marks. There will
be four sections in Part I (each containing 20 questions) and four sections in Part II (each containing 10 questions).
Answer any THREE of the four subjects in Part I, and any TWO of the four subjects in Part II.
6. The composition of the question paper is given in the table below:

7. The answer paper is machine readable. The answer to each question is to be entered in OMR sheet only.
8. For each question, indicate your answer by filling the corresponding oval with a HB pencil only.
9. For each question there will be four choices given and only one of them is the correct answer. Fill only one
oval per question. If you mark more than one oval, it will be considered as an incorrect answer.
10. If you wish to change your answer, please erase the existing mark completely before marking the other oval.
11. There is negative marking for wrong answers. Unanswered questions will not be evaluated and will not be
penalized as a wrong answer.
12. In Part I each correct answer gets 1 mark and for each incorrect answer 0.25 mark will be deducted. In Part
II each correct answer gets 2 marks and for each incorrect answer 0.5 mark will be deducted.
13. You are permitted to use a non-programmable calculator.
14. If you have NOT furnished the photograph, you are requested to bring an attested photograph with you.
15. Please note that the OMR sheet has to be returned to the invigilator before leaving the room.
16. Candidates are permitted to carry question paper after the examination.
17. Carrying/use of mobile phone inside the examination hall is strictly prohibited and no provisions have been made
for their safe custody at test centers.
