Lead teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs

5.

Undertake engineering activities in a way that contributes to sustainable development.

Identify three reasons WHY YOU NEED TO ACCOMPLISH these long term goals:
1. Use imagination, creativity and innovation to provide products and services which maintain and enhance the
quality of the environment and community, and meet financial objectives
2. Broaden and deepen own knowledge base through research and experimentation
3. Identify constraints and exploit opportunities for the development
Take each of these goals and identify the steps needed to achieve them. This is the foundation of your
action plan

Action Steps to be taken

Target Date

Done

1. Identify the limits of own personal knowledge and skills

2. Use evidence from best practice to improve effectiveness.

3. Broaden your knowledge of engineering codes, standards

and specifications

4. Produce concept designs, and develop these into detailed

designs

5. Identify the factors affecting the project implementation

6.

Possible Roadblocks to Achieving My Goals

You have your action steps to your plan but things can still go wrong that make it hard for you to reach
your goal. Think of it as being roadblocks to reaching your destination. You need find a detour or another
route to get there. If you are prepared in advance, you will not get lost. Examples of roadblocks are lack of
support from spouse or boss, young children, child care, elderly or sick parents, any type of disability,

Factors in my life that could pose limitations include:

Geographic location
Family responsibilities
Financial constraints

Other limitations
