Whatre Streams outlets the boiler?
Steam, Flue/Waste gas
Waste heat boiler is used?
Increase the steam temperature of super-heater
Pressure safety valve in boiler is used to?
Relieve pressure and prevent possible explosion of a boiler, prevents boiler
pressure from rising above the setting of the valve by relieving excessive steam
pressure, guarding against hazards of over pressure
PSV in boiler system?

Answer

Including various PSVs in boiler system to protect the system over the pressure

The basic purpose of steam drum in boiler is to

Separate 2 phases of boiler water
The purpose of economizer in a boiler?

Answer

Uses the waste heat from the flue gas of boiler that would otherwise be lost to
atmosphere to preheat the boiler feed water into the boiler. This improves the
boiler efficiency and reduces fuel costs.

Q. 13

The heat used to increase the temperature of boiler feed water through economizer
of boiler from:

Answer
Q. 14

Waste heat of flue gas

The largest heat loss from boilers are caused by

Answer

D. Dry flue gas

Q. 15

The purpose of de-aeration of boiler feed water is to

Answer

A. Remove dissolved gases

Q. 16

What is a benefit of boiler blow down control?

Answer

D. All of the above

Q. 17

Discharge of condensate as soon as it is formed

Negligible steam consumption
Discharging of air and other non-condensable gases

The minimum type of chemicals required to inject to boiler system:

Q. 23

Chemicals for controlling the pH of BFW (amin)

Chemicals for controlling the pH of BF and prevent the fouling (trisodium
photphate)
Oxygen scavengers (hydrazin)

When operator increases the load of boiler, should

Increase combustion air first, increase fuel later

Q. 24

When operator decreases the load of boiler, should

Decrease fuel first, decrease combustion air later

Q. 25

The boiler feed water pumps were tripped when

Answer
Q. 28

The boiler was tripped when

-

Feed drum, Deaerator drum, steam drum at LL level

Pump trip
Boiler pressure too high

The pressure safety vale (PSV) will open (pop up) if

Pressure on the system over the set value
The probable cause of an increase temperature in the flue gas at the boiler outlet is
Fouling heat transfer surface/ poor fuel (Maybe correct anwser is ALL OF
THESE)

The steam boiler ( Or steam drum)
(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiler_feedwater_pump)
Possible causes lead to explosion boiler are
As seen today, boiler explosions are of two kinds.
-

Answer

One kind is a failure of the pressure parts of the steam and water sides.
There can be many different causes, such as failure of the safety valve,
corrosion of critical parts of the boiler, or low water level. Corrosion along
the edges of lap joints was a common cause of early boiler explosions.
The second kind is a fuel/air explosion in the furnace, which would more
properly be termed a firebox explosion. Firebox explosions in solid-fuelfired boilers are rare, but firebox explosions in gas or oil-fired boilers are
still a potential hazard.

Answer should be: neither high pressure at steam drum or fuel/air explosion in
the furnace
