    Intended Learning Objectives:

    Analyze the audience interest, expectation, age, educational background


    Deliver short informative, persuasive, inspiring presentations
    Using appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication throughout speeches
    Select and design effective visual aids that match the objectives and the audience of a
    presentation
    Evaluate and critique the verbal and the non-verbal communication of their own
    presentations and others' as well
    Organize different sections of a presentation
    Handle audience questions in an effective manner
    Practice physical and mental techniques to avoid anxiety and nervousness
    Demonstrate awareness of distracting gestures and positions
    Demonstrate appropriate time management skills while giving short speeches
    Maintain audience interest throughout a presentation

    Group Presentation: Students will be requested to work in groups of 5 to prepare, design and
    deliver a 10 15 minute presentation on an assigned topic. The topics are related to body
    language, non-verbal communication, PowerPoint presentations and visual aids.

    Informative Group Presentation: Students should work in groups of 5 to prepare, design and
    deliver an informative presentation. Each group should choose an informative topic for their
    presentation. Each group will be allowed 15 minutes (12 min: presentation and 3 min: Q & A
    session).

    Persuasive Presentation: Students should work in groups to prepare and design visual aids to
    deliver a sell presentation. Each group will be given a product, and allowed 45 to 60 minutes
    to prepare a presentation outline and work on designing visual aids. Then, they will be
    required to deliver a 5 to 7 minute presentation.

    Community Service Presentation: Students should work in groups of 5 to prepare, design


    and deliver a presentation addressing community needs/issues. This presentation aims at
    strengthening students civic and community engagement. Each group will be allowed 15
    minutes (12 min: presentation and 3 min: Q & A session).

    Self-critique Essay: Students should arrange for someone to record their informative
    presentations. Then, each student should submit a self-critique paper evaluating his/her
    performance after watching the video of the presentation.

    Mid-term Presentation: Students should work in groups of 5 to prepare, design and deliver a
    5 10 minute presentation on a topic assigned by the instructor.

    Academic Integrity Policy


    Students in the Credit Hours Programs are expected to conform to academic integrity policy as
    explained in the Students Code of Conduct posted on the CUFE website. Any sign of cheating,
    copying assignments or plagiarism in any of class tasks, presentation ideas or materials will
    mean the student gets ZERO on the plagiarized task. . Repeated incidents of plagiarism will
    result in receiving a zero in the coursework grades.
    Attendance policy:
    Attendance is mandatory for participating in class discussions, listening to/watching class
    audio/video materials, and taking part in practice time at the end of most sessions.
    Attendance will be taken once at the beginning of each session.
    Important Notes
    It is the students responsibility to keep track of important dates of class tasks and
    presentations.
    Students need to check the course Facebook group regularly for announcements and
    materials.
    Rubrics for presentations will be posted on the course Facebook group page in due time.
