STUDENT REACTION
Ma. Kryssie S. Gomez

Last February 1, 2015 we held a Community Outreach Program

in Satima Asuncion Village regarding Sports Clinic (Basketball). I
noticed that nowadays children are not fond of playing sports
activities and they are more on computer games and gadgets. Thats
why we pursue to make this activity to help the children realize that
sports are important in our body. When we conducted this program, I
saw the childrens excitement with the activity, I noticed that they
have skills that can be developed by helping and teaching them with
the right strategies, rules and discipline that will help them in the
future for their studies. I am very blessed that I am one of the people
who shared them with what I know and who saw that life is truly
difficult. I am thankful that it made me realized that I should
cherished and loved things that I had. And I am very happy when I
saw the children enjoyed and gave their passion to the activity we
held.

Angelo Paulino
Based on my reaction about our Community Outreach
Program / Sports Clinic Basic Basketball helping other people
makes me feel happy. It makes me feel worthy of myself because I
see that I am useful, especially in the community (Satima Village

Basketball Court). This activity helped me to take advantage of

meeting other people and trained to serve the community in the best
that I could. This kind of activities was fulfilling and duties like these
were the one I enjoyed the most. Sharing of talents & skills that we
have acquired and developed, and the knowledge that we have
learned makes it more worthy. Seeing the childrenhappy with what
we did, we can say that they were satisfied. We taught them the basic
Basketball, the drills that we were doing & the warm-up routines &
exercises that we did. Teaching them how to play basketball using
different

techniques

was

great

experienced

it

becomes

memorablebecause I have a little knowledge and strategy to share on

how we would teach basic basketball in the community of Satima
Village.I know that the other children were motivated to become a
varsity player in their schools to help them continue their studies.
And it went okay because we had a successful activity in the Satima
Asuncion Village Court and thank you to those who participate in the
community outreach program that gives the children some ideas
about basic basketball clinic program.

Emelito Agbay
This is an observation regarding to our community outreach
program held in Satima Asuncion Village having Basketball Clinic,
they coordinated to the barangay official to invite children with the
age of 8 yrs. old to 11 yrs. old and we also invited the basketball

players, our fellow criminology students and through the effort of the
Team Leader of the group 4 Ms. Ma. Kryssie Gomez and the
Assistant Leader Mr. Angelo Paulino. They lead to teach some
techniques like dribbling the ball and how to shoot properly and the
very important thing was how to discipline themselves as a
professional player someday.
This program was witness by our beloved Dean Raul C. Trinidad and
Im thankful to my colleagues to their efforts of preparing the foods
and snacks to the participants.
It was indeed a successful project and we are encouraged to
continue what we are impart/share to the children.

Jayson Baris
The community outreach program made me realize that
somehow in some simple ways we could bring happiness to others,
we were able to help and made the children feel that some people
care for them through a community outreach program activity. It was

neither the food nor the games we played that made the outreach
memorable but the smiles in every childs face which made it more
valuable. Seeing those smiles made me realize the activity was a
success.

Jesrell Escover
We conducted a community outreach program (C.O.P) Sports
Clinic at Satima Asuncion Village (Adopted Community) with 70
participants this event was conducted on the date of February 1,
2015, for those out of school youth. Most of them are poor and they

are not financially stable to support their education, this sports clinic
can help them to learn about living with a good life style, Basketball
sport. Teaching them about the basic basketball like how to shoot
the ball properly, how to dribble, how to play the basketball properly.
This event may help the youth to improve their skills and
socialization with others.
I contributed by leading the prayer, stretching exercise,
jogging and supervising the event. Based on my observation the
most of the youth want to play basketball but they were lack of
equipment like shoes, jerseys, but those hindrances keep them from
playing basketball. Most of the youths play wearing slippers and the
others play with bare footed. And then we had our lunch with the
youths they are excited to eat because they are tired of playing
basketball after the teaching of the basketball basics. And then after
we had our lunch. We ended the program.
Based on the program we conducted I think we performed well
and fulfilled our mission and vision of our program. In what I saw
with the youths that attended our program I was encouraged to have
an advocacy group someday for those out of school youth to have
basics of sports and education.

Norhanifa Macarampat
The community outreach program we did made me realized
that not all people were lucky as I am. When the time I got there, I
saw the kids and the excitement on their faces but I feel some
disappointment because some of them didnt go to school, they

dont have enough care given from their parents. In our program, we
gathered more than fifty kids to play basketball. When the program
started the kids are active and willing to win and thats their goal in
that game. I also realized that even though it is just a simple activity I
have the chance to give some happiness to them. I know that
someday the knowledge that we shared to them will help them in the
future. Like being determined to their goals and to become confident.
In that activity they learned the proper ways of playing basketball
even though were not always there but they can continue to learn in
different ways. Also they can used it to have a scholarship in their
perspective school in the future. Many school offer scholarship for
being a varsity player in basketball. They can enhance their skill in
playing basketball as well as they can study. We dont know that
someday one of them may become one of the best player in the
basketball field. I hope that the community outreach program that we
make will help them to become more confident and to dream high
and dream big.

Mars Ivan Rustia

Sport builds character. Physical, mental, and moral health go
together. These are fundamental beliefs in modern society. With so

many youth participating in sports, it is important to examine the

possible benefits of this involvement.
Learning physical skills. Young athletes learn both fundamental
motor skills (e.g., running, jumping and hopping) and sport-specific
skills that allow them to stay active.
Appreciation of fitness. Two of the motives for participation
identified by children is to get exercise and stay in shape;
participating in sports offers this benefit.
Sense of belonging. Another strong motive of participation is social
interaction. Sports can provide peer interaction through both
teammates and healthy competition
Above mentioned, are some of the many benefits of game
participation of youth. With this, we have came up with the idea of
improving children lifestyles by engaging them to some physical
activities. We have created a basketball clinic to encourage, to
improve, to uplift, to entertain and to make them healthy. The main
goal of our program is to provide a healthy lifestyle, particularly to
the youth. In line with this, we also conducted feeding programs so
as to give them proper nutrients for them to stay and look healthy.
Feeding program and this sports clinic that we conducted may be a
short-term solution, but we are happy seeing the community children
driven, eager and well-motivated to learn and play the game, we
knew that this program will help the community children a lot. From
this program, we hope that they will learn about discipline and
perseverance just like in a basketball game.
Stephen Bryan Teje
During our community service project, I learned and experienced a
lot. We taught the children how to play basketball such as basic

warm-up routines, shooting and dribbling. I was grateful to see the

faces of the children enjoying during our activity. Basketball is not
only a mental sport, but also a communication game. Sharing of
talents and skills that we have acquired and developed and the
knowledge that we have learned is a great way to help the children to
boost their confidence on playing basketball.

Krizzhan John Vidad

Based on Community Outreach Program / Sports Clinic, my
reaction of helping other people makes me feel good. It makes me
feel blessed because I see myself useful. These are the one I enjoy
the most, sharing of talents & skills. Seeing the children happy, I can
say that they were satisfied for what we did for them. It was fun
because teaching the children basketball drills and the feeding
program was a great experienced, and this is my one of my most
favorite part. When I give the food to a little girl she said thank you.
Im so glad because the little girl are so tactful for me. Because she
is very pleasant and she looks very happy in what we did. Im very
thankful to be part of this program. It went good because we had a
successful activity in the Satima Asuncion Village Court for
Community Outreach Program that some children given some ideas
not just about basketball techniques but also discipline. It made me
realize that we are blessed and how hard life can be. For those
people who spend their time in our community outreach program Im
very thankful to all of you.
