    Dear Parents,
    Congratulations to our talented second graders for the delightful musical
    presentation last week. In collaboration with our music teacher, Ms. Watkins,
    & our 2nd graders, parents, staff, and students of SOES MEDIA Magnet were
    able to enjoy a musical about TESTING! Thank you for making us laugh at
    the reality of standardized testing! So I saymagnificent, wonderful,
    amazing, marvelous, impressive. Way to go 2nd grade!
    The Chess Tournament held at SOES MEDIA Magnet, sponsored by Emily
    Smith, hosted 34 students from 5 different schools within our district.
    Congratulations to the following students from SOES who participated in the
    Chess Tournament this past Saturday.

    Spring arrives in just 3 short days Friday, March 20, 2015! One more week
    of school following the first day of spring, and then Spring Break is here!
    School will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 30th until
    Monday, April 6th. Students and staff will return to school on Tuesday,
    April 7, 2015. MARK your calendar!

    Friday, March 27
    Please come and cheer on your child. Your child will be running a 1 mile fun run on March
    27. The track is located in the parking lot, so please arrive early to find a space to park. Bring
    a chair or stand and cheer on your child. Below is the race schedule. The top 2 boys and girls
    from each class we will in the Championship run in the afternoon. Good luck to all!!

    Why Learn German?


    To succeed in school.
    Students who study German score higher on college entrance exams (ACT/SAT). Most colleges
    require at least 2 years of foreign language study. Some colleges specifically require German for
    many of their programs of study.
    To learn your own language better.
    German and English are both Germanic languages. They basically started out as the same
    language and thus still share many of the same words, grammatical structures, etc.
    To get a good job.
    Germany, with the 3rd largest economy of the world, leads as
    #1 export nation of the world!
    In the Upstate, there are so many German automobile suppliers, that
    I-85 has been dubbed the American Autobahn.
    German is fun and
    not as hard as you think.
