Listening To The Modern Prophets: (Meet at 1:00pm in The Fellowship Hallway)
Churchwide
It was three years ago this past week that God called our
good friend and church member, Chuck Colson, to Heaven.
Perhaps no other man in recent history has held such a
prophetic voice with such intellectual power. He wrote, The crises that threatens
us, the force that could topple our monuments and destroy our very foundation,
is within ourselves. The crisis is in the character of our culture. How we miss
his clarion call, abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good (Romans 12:9).
Have you placed your faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and
not yet professed your faith through believers baptism?
This is a perfect opportunity. Please call Linda at 5968600 x280 to register. You can also stop by our Beach
Baptism table in the Commons for more information.
David Wilkerson also attended our church some years ago while in Naples. You
remember him as the street preacher in New York City who wrote, We live in
the most wicked time in history. Our present generation is many times worse
than that of Sodom. We are more stiff-necked than the nation of Israel, more
violent than in Noahs day. In what he called a cultural tsunami, he noted, If
ever there was a time the world needed godly saints of intense faith, it is now.
The great theologian, Carl Henry, spoke of the twilight of our culture.
The brilliant thinker, C. S. Lewis, spoke of bad rulers as being neither very
wise nor very good. As we live in a postmodern society, culture and even
government are not only post-Christian, but anti-Christianity. The erosion of
moral absolutes and the denial of ultimate truth has created a great vacuum of
leadership, discernment, courage, and sanity.
Christians who are in the world must not be of the world. We are twiceborn
people in the world of the once-born. We are called to not be carnally-minded
but spiritually-minded. As Jesus asked His disciples, When the Son of Man
comes, will He find faith on earth? We exercise practical, biblical faith as we
trust the Lord. Chuck Colson warned that we were only one generation away
from being barbarian.
Parents and grandparents must pass on the baton of faith. In our study in
Genesis, Jesus predicted that He will return in a day like that of the days of
Lot, as they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planning and building.
But on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from
Heaven and destroyed them all; so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is
revealed. We dare not look down in despair, but look up in hope, while at the
same time looking around to witness to those who need to repent before it is too
late. Light shines brightest in the darkness as we contrast our Christian integrity
with the worlds depravity. Gods modern prophets of truth do not prophesy
falsely (Jeremiah 5:31) but say, Let us fear the Lord our God (Jeremiah 5:24).
*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning 11:00am worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!
We are so glad you joined us for worship! Greeters at the doors can help with
any immediate needs you may have. Volunteers at the Information Desk in the
Commons can assist you in finding the perfect Bible & Life Group. For more
information about our church and ministries, please call Lou at 596-8600 x258.
