OBJECTIVES
WELCOME TO THE GLOBAL GRANT APPLICATION
Your application has been assigned the reference number GG1526144 , which you can use for tracking and when communicating with The
Rotary Foundation or colleagues.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
In a few short sentences, tell us your objectives for this global grant.
To establish the first Human Heart Valve Tissue Bank (HVB) in Sri Lanka for the cryopreservation of heart valves and
systematically supply cryopreserved valve homografts for heart surgeries for children with Congenital Heart Defects
(CHD) in Sri Lanka thus reducing the cost and increasing the number of surgeries that can be undertaken to repair CHD.
Our aim is to give these children a chance to survive to adulthood and ultimately contribute to the Economy when they
are adults.
At present a serious limitation in providing medical treatment is the availability of an adequate supply of heart valves. The
HVB will be set up in accordance to international standards.
For further information please refer www.rotarianswithaheart.org (Rotarians With A Heart . org)
Who will benefit from this global grant? Provide the estimated number of direct beneficiaries.
Children born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) from all over Sri Lanka who requires a heart valve transplant
(Approximately 2,500 to 3,000 children )
Under privileged Sri Lankan community that does not have the financial capacity to obtain artificial valves and who do
not have the financial strength to go overseas to do such procedures.

The Rotary Foundation funds global grants from the World Fund, and awards range from US$15,000 to
US$200,000. The Foundation matches cash contributions at 50 percent and District Designated Fund (DDF)
contributions at 100 percent. The Foundation will also match non-Rotarian contributions toward a grant,
provided they do not come from a cooperating organization or a beneficiary.
To determine the World Fund match for your global grant, list all sources of funding, specifying contributions
from cash, DDF, and other sources. Non Rotarian contributions with no match from TRF can be included in the
grant financing if they are being used to purchase grant budget items. These contributions should not be sent
to TRF. Note that the total financing must be equal to the total budget of your activity.
After you have added all funding sources and the requested World Fund match, click "Save" to save your grant
financing.
