Modem Installation Guide for Win 7


Auto Run feature is not supported in this version
On some computers, firewall or antivirus software might block the installation process, you may
disable them temporary until the process is completed
Ensure that you have an access as a Super User or Administrator to do installation
Ensure the phone modem mode is turn on
The device may conflict with another modem that have already been installed on the computer

There are two files required for the USB Driver applications:
VIA_UsbDriver_2.3.14.whql_Installer_2.0.6.exe
VIA_UsbDriver_2.3.14.whql_Installer_2.0.6-Uninstall.exe

1. The Modem Driver Installation


The following installation wizard is an example in Windows 7 32bit version.
1. Run the VIA_UsbDriver_2.3.14.whql_Installer_2.0.6.exe file.
2. Click Next in driver setup welcome dialog box.

3. Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

4. The installation status message box will appear indicate the progress.

5. The following message box indicates that the USB driver has successfully installed,
click Finish to exit the wizard.

2. USB Device and Modem Detection.


1. After installation complete, plug to phone to the computer using the provided data
cable (ensure the modem mode is on, from Main Menu
Menu
Connectivity
Modem Mode
On), afterward the USB device and Modem detection process will
appears, and one by one the pop-up box will appears, indicate each devices has
been discovered and continue with installing the drivers until all completed as in
example in Figure 5 and device is ready to use.

2. From the Windows Device Managers device list shown in Figure 6 you can find the
device there to ensure it is properly installed.

3. Dial-up Networking and Modem Connection


Dial-up Networking
1. From Windows system, Open Smartfren CDMA 1xDO Connection as shown
in Figure 6

2. Click Dial to connect or dial-up the modem, as seen Figure 7 (the default User
name is smartfren the password is also smartfren and the Dial number is #777

3. Then the following dialog boxes will appear in sequence, indicate the dial-up
connection progress as shown in Figure 8

4. To disconnect, you can double click on select the Smartfren CDMA 1xDO 3G
Connection icon in the status bar then select Disconnect from the pop-up
dialog box as shown in figure 9 or simply right click directly at the icon and choose
disconnect.

4. Uninstalling the Modem and Device Drivers


1. Run the VIA_UsbDriver_2.3.14.whql_Installer_2.0.6-Uninstall.exe file.

2. Click Ok as shown in figure 10

3. The uninstalling dialog box will appear indicate the un-installation progress as
shown in figure 11

4. The following dialog box indicates that the USB driver has successfully
uninstalled, click Close to exit the wizard.
