Writing Section Please answer the following questions.

1. Please explain why you are the right type of person to teach overseas.
I am a people’s person, yet I am slightly introverted. I have a keen sense of people, bordering on
empathic, which allows me, when working with large groups of people, to deal with each person as an
individual and not as another generic clone. I also enjoy helping people, no matter the issue.

2. Please explain what qualities you think are necessary to be a good teacher.
A good teacher needs a group of qualities that are both consistent and yet contradictory at the same time.
A teacher needs to be patient and caring, be willing to show humbleness, yet also expect respect. A
teacher must be hard working and honest, show true interest in his/her pupils not just a false visage of
interest. A teacher must also not be cruel or unfair, but must know when to be strict and to what extent.
3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or supervisor.
If possible work out the dispute privately and not in front of the other co-workers as to reduce
embarrassment for both myself and my co-worker/supervisor. I would also try to work out the source of
our disagreement and try to find a compromise. If the issue of the dispute originates from personal
feelings and/or opinions I would take lead and let it go, unless the issue was truly immoral or had a
negative effect on the pupils or other o-workers. If no suitable answer could be found I would have to
inform a superior, but not without informing my decision of action to my co-worker/supervisor with
whom I was having the dispute.

4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in Korea.
If I were to become homesick, which I truly doubt, I would contact my friends and/or family via the
internet (Skype or e-mail). I would also keep myself busy with work or hobbies until the feeling of
homesickness passes.
5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue, places to visit?)
When I stay in Korea I would like to explore the country and its culture as well as other countries in the
East. I have always been extremely fascinated with the Eastern culture and beliefs and as such I will
broaden my mind and enrich my essence through study of these thongs.
