E ACHIEVEMENTS
1. Modernizing the department of cardiology Cairo University.
After refusing many offers from different universities in the United States after I
finished my training, I returned to serve my country Egypt. I was able to upgrade ,
modernize and introduce several modern technologies to Egypt and also to Qatar,
especially to the cardiology department Cairo University . I was able not only to
improve cardiology but to improve cardiac surgery through teaching cardiac
surgeons the anatomy of congenital and acquired heart diseases through
introducing echocardiography and cardiac catheterization, angiography and
intervention and also sending several cardiac surgeons to train abroad in U.S.A.
and France .
2. Establishment of the first multidisciplinary ultrasound center at Cairo
University Hospitals in conjunction with the American National Science
Foundation and Bowman Gray hospital U.S.A. through which the science
of ultrasound was introduced for the first time in Egypt.
3. Establishment of three modern invasive cardiac laboratories including
cardiac catheterization, interventional procedures and electrophysiological
studies in Cardiac Department, Cairo University.
4. Establishment of a modern non-invasive cardiac laboratory including

Holter monitoring, Stress ECG, Color Echo-Doppler, Trans-Esophageal
Echo, Vascular Duplex, Stress echocardiography and Signal Averaging,
in the Cardiac Department, Cairo University
5. Training doctors in the Department of cardiology and cardiac surgeryFaculty of Medicine Cairo University and outside Cairo university on
the use of modern equipment and advanced technologies to diagnose and
treat heart diseases starting from 1973 until now, including through my
connections and efforts sending many members of the department
to train abroad in universities and institutes in Europe and America
on the advanced ways for diagnosis and treatment of cardiac diseases.
6. Training many young doctors in noninvasive and invasive procedures.
7. Conduction of three international workshops on Diagnostic Ultrasound
Imaging in Cairo, Egypt, March 1976, April 1977 and March 1978.
8.Conducting 6 international meetings , three for technology transfer, one
with Cleveland Clinics and another with Texas Heart Institute and one with
the Egyptian Society of Cardiology 1996 .
9. Editing the proceedings of the Second and Third International Workshop
on Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging, Cairo, Egypt, April 1977and April
1978.
