Objectives of Educational Development:

Education contributes significantly to the establishment of the socio-economic perquisite


for democracy e.g economic development, improved health, social well being. Thus
improved education can tremendously influence democracy and the development of civil
society. The link between education and improved human development indicators has
been proved widely by a number of studies. The objectives of education are to help
young people to tackle the changes of sustainable development with multidirectional
learning. It also increases access to social and economic opportunity, participation in
political process and promote democratic practices of multiculturalism and pluralism.
Objectives of education are dynamic and changeable to fulfill the demands and
needs the individual and the society as a whole.

Some major objectives of educational development are as follows:


1. Universalisation of education:
Education is a fundamental right for every citizen of a country.therefore it is the
responsibility of the government as well as society to provide education to every citizen
irrespective of caste, creed ,sex ,religion etc. it includes the objectives of educational
development of inclusion, expansion,equality,access to all etc.
2. Development of democratic citizenship:
Democracy based on the principles like equality, fraternity,liberty,justice etc. which are
indicators of development of a nation. For the success of a democracy, it is essential that
each individual should understand his responsibilities consciously and keep faith on
democratic values. Therefore one of the major objectives of educational development is
development of democratic citizenship among the peoples.
3. Human resource development:
With the passing of time society has become more and more complex. In this complex
modern society, there is an urgent need competent and qualitative members to lead
society. So development of human resources is one of the major objectives of educational
development.
4. To meet sustainable development:
Sustainable development consider to be a paradigm for thinking about a future in which
environmental, societal and economic consideration are balanced in the pursuit of
development. Therefore to enable the people to meet sustainable development is another
major objective of educational development.

5. Empowerment of women:
Women are indispensible part of our society. The education of women can greatly assist
in national development. Keeping regard on this view educational development aims to
make women empowered.
6. Eradication extreme poverty:
Poverty is a situation when people are unable to satisfy basic needs of life. It is the
extreme violence of the society, specially in a developing and underdeveloped countries
majority of the total population are remain poor. They are unable to fulfill the basic needs
of life. Poverty is the main obstacle for developing efforts of a country.we cannot move
forward because of poverty, but good education is the only means of breaking the cycle
of poverty. Therefore educational development aims at removal of extreme poverty from
society.
7. Promotion of peace and Stability:
Although the present world has been able to touch the greatest height of science and
technological development but moral values, humanity are still lagging behind. Rather
these aspects of human being are degrading day by day for which peace, harmony,
stability, unity in the society deteriorating. Therefore educational system must find out
ways to teach people how to minimize mental stress, promote peace, stability, unity etc.
therefore it is another important goal of educational development.
8. Creation of awareness about population education:
Increasing numbers of population is one of the major problems of a country, specially for
developing and underdeveloped countries. The high rate of population growth badly
effect these all aspects of developing efforts. Increasing numbers of population of a
country creates various problems like poverty, hunger, unemployment, poor socioeconomic condition etc. so it is the unavoidable responsibility of the every cictizen of the
world to control population explosion . therefore it is very necessary to provide education
to the people of a country through which they become aware about the causes and
consequences of population growth in a country.
Some other objectives of educational development are :
1. To develop global citizenship qualities.
2. Development of capacity building ,critical thinking and problem solving ability.
3. To promote international understanding etc.

CONCLUSION :
Thus we can say that education is imperative for the development of individual
and the society as a whole and it bridges the gap between an individual and his
society.
