A Reflection/Reaction Paper On the movie Heneral Luna

The movie had showed me the negative values that most Filipinos possess that lead to our
countrys downfall. Its depressing to know that crab mentality, selfishness, greed for power had existed
a long time ago in Philippine history. Though General Aguinaldo was considered as the first president
of the Philippines, I dont recognize him as one. He doesnt deserve to be called a hero. I wonder why
some books still put him on the pedestal of being a hero. He is a traitor. He betrayed the country when
he decided to kill Andres Bonifacio and Antonio Luna, the former is the supposed to be first president of
the Philippines and the latter is the best general the Philippines could have. Aguinaldo was so selfish.
He dared to kill his kabaros just to get what he wants. No wonder why some of the succeeding leaders
of the Philippines got their attitude. They got them from their ancestors.
General Antonio Luna was a very brave, strong and principled man. He sticks to what he think is
right for the country. He loved the Philippines so much that he sacrificed his own love life. Luna was
never married. He spent his whole life in the war until Aguinaldos soldier killed him. I believe that there
are Filipinos who are like General Luna, Filipinos who are willing to fight for the country until their last
breath and are fearless to face anyone even the people in the higher position.
It may not be all but most of the leaders who had been elected by the people are not driven by
nationalistic reasons but by personal intentions. Every time I see road rehabilitation I ask myself, why
are they fixing the road when its not broken?, Why not spend the money for more important things
like health, education, military equipment advancement?,

Philippines needs reformation in the

government. But we need to change ourselves first and the rest will follow after. As what General Luna
said, Ang kalaban nating mga Pilipino ay ang ating sarili.

The European Refugee Crisis and Syria: An Exposition

Nearly 12 million Syrians have been forced from their homes because of the war; half are
children. 95% of the Syrian refugees were taken care of by some neighboring country like Turkey, Iraq,
Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan while the Arab states in the Persian Gulf like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,
Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman had accepted zero refugees, which have been called shameful by the

Amnesty International. Since the beginning of this crisis, World Vision has helped more than 2 million
people in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq. In response to the migration toward Europe, we are now
also providing aid in Serbia. Despite of the effort of the United Nations and the World Food Program to
give assistance to the Syrian, they are not prepared for the refugee crisis on this scale. As a result,
many refugee camps are crowded and under supplied, subjected people to cold, hunger and disease.
The Syrian refugees lose hope in their situation, so they decided to seek asylum in Europe. Much
country hesitated to accept more refugees because of security reasons. But the perception on the
crisis around the world suddenly changed when photos of a dead four year old boy from Syria lying on
the shore of Turkey. And Germany announced that it will accept all refugees without hesitation. That
statement from a wealthy country, had given the refugees new hope to get new life. So in the summer
of 2015 (September and October) in Europe, a numerous refugees tried to reach Europe especially
Germany.
This crisis experienced by Europe gave them threats on their security. Some countries hesitated
to accept refugees for they fear that some of them maybe spies from ISIS, the richest and fearless
terrorist in the world today. We cant judge those countries for they are doing what they think is right for
their countrymen. And for those brave and compassionate countries, they deserve our salute.
