Senior Book Club

The Senior Book Club is
reading One Hundred Years of
Solitude by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez. We will discuss this novel on
Thursday, May 5, in Chapman Lounge.
Barbara Fenters will be our hostess.
One Hundred Years of Solitude is
often noted to be a must read of human nature.
One of the many reviews for it denotes the
major themes of the novel as time, fate, humor
and magic. It is in these concepts that the great
playfulness and great power of the novel live.

Sr. Adults Meet on April 19

The Seniors Ministry
Group meets Tuesday, April 19,
2016, at 12 noon in Chapman
Lounge for our monthly meeting. Since Donna
is on vacation next week and there will be no
Caller, you are getting this reminder a week
early. Be sure to mark your calendars.
Our speaker on April 19 will be our
own Cambria Findley-Grubb. Cambria has
spoken to us before but she is currently
representing UNICEF and will be sharing with
us The Refugee and Migrant Crisis, UNICEFS
WORK IN Syria. This is a very current issue in
the world today and UNICEF is on the ground
in Syria doing critical work to make sure that
all children have access to food, water,
education, and psych-social support. This is an
opportunity to hear about this crisis from those
who are on the front line attempting to help
those so impacted by the war. See you then!

Study Of Gospel Of John

Underway
The Parlor Class was
provided with an overview of the Gospel of
John this past Sunday in a preliminary session
prior to actually beginning to read, study and
discuss the text of this gospel. This coming
Sunday, April 10, we will have our first session
working with the text. The assignment for
Sunday is to read John 1:1-18, i.e. the
Prologue to the gospel, and to read the relevant
material in William Barclays commentary
about the first 18 verses of the text. Well dive
right into this well-known section of scripture.
Wed love to have YOU join us. We
have some extra copies of Barclays
commentary in the Church Library so no one
needs to buy a book in order to participate in
this class. For more information about this
study, contact Ed Linberg, who is the leader of
the class. By the way, we anticipate that
well be taking several months to work our
way through the 21 chapters of the fourth
gospel, so now is the time to get in at the
beginning!

Love Fullerton

Ave). After the brief rally, volunteers will
connect with project leaders for final
instructions and head off to work by 9:30 a.m.
Then at 12:30 P.M. we will gather back together
at Fullerton College and enjoy lunch together.
This year 5 cities will gather together to
celebrate a great day.
. I will be leading the Brunch and
Mothers Day craft for the kids at WTLC. If
you would like to volunteer to help me, either

We Get Letters
We have received two
letters from Pathways of Hope
about recent gifts weve given
to support their ministry in Fullerton and
North Orange County. Both will be posted on
the bulletin board for you to read in their
entirety next Sunday.
On behalf of Pathways of Hope
Board of Directors, our dedicated staff, tireless
volunteers, and the homeless and hungry we
serve, I want to thank you for your generous
donation of $277.00. Thank you for your help
in supporting our programs.
The second letter repeats the same
paragraph with the exception that we are
thanked for our generous sponsorship of the

CROP Hunger Walk in the amount of $500.

Both letters were signed by Pam
Sousa, Interim Executive Director for Pathways
of Hope. FYI, the $277 gift is the first of four
quarterly gifts well make to Pathways of Hope
this year. The $500 gift came from the proceeds
of the 2015 Tri Tip Booth at Downtown Market,
last year. We have waited to send in these
funds that were designated for the CROP
Hunger Walk until that event was coming up
in the calendar. Our churchs name will
appear on the CROP Hunger Walk t-shirts as
one of the sponsors of the 2016 event that is
two weeks from Sunday on April 24.
