Session 1
Objective: to familiarize the trainee with the aircraft cockpit and with normal start, taxi, takeoff,
climbing, descending, speed control, stall recovery, ILS approach, use of profiles, use of standard
operating procedures and normal checklists

Functional checks to extent possible on FTD
Preparation for takeoff
Normal takeoff
Climbing, levelling, descending
Holding
Stall recovery clean and landing configurations
Arrival planning
ILS approach
Session 2
Objective: To introduce the trainee to various phases of flight and in different configurations, to
introduce use of the flight director, to introduce engine failures in level flight as well as other
simple systems emergencies.
Exercises
Start difficulties: hot start, hung start, no oil pressure, no light start
System checks
Checking the flight director
Introduction to rejected takeoff
Normal takeoff
IFR departure
Climbing at Vy, Vyse, Venr
Flying at reduced airspeeds
Boost pump failure, generator failure and reset
Engine failure or precautionary shutdown in level flight
Arrival procedure
ILS or NDB approach
Introduction to missed approach with 2 engines

Session 3
Objective: Developing competency in dealing with emergencies and engine failures in all phases
of flight.
Exercises
Start difficulty hot, hung start or fire during start
Engine or nacelle fire on ground
Rejected takeoff
Generator failure without reset; current limiter failure
Invertor failure in flight
Battery charge light thermal runaway
Engine failures and engine fires in flight including during approach
Landing gear abnormal and emergency conditions
Precision and nonprecision approaches
Navigation aid failure
Missed approaches including engine failures after missed approach and single engine missed
approach
Pilot incapacitation

Objective: Developing competency in dealing with engine failures and fires after rotation as well
as all other emergency checklists.
Exercises
Engine start difficulties
Rejected takeoff
Engine failures and fires after takeoff repeated drill, with and without autofeather
Instrument departure
Emergency descent and pressurization problems (Kingair only)
Electric and/or environmental smoke
Engine failures and/or fire with pilot flying in right seat
Current limiter and generator/engine failure same or opposite side
Emergencies selected from emergency checklist
Precision and non-precision approach single engine or engine failure on short final
Pilot incapacitation
