ABOUT US
Alia Technical and Engineering Consulting Co. is a team of geotechnical, materials, and
geophysical consultants committed to helping our Clients achieve their project goals. We are
licensed geotechnical engineers, professional geologists, geophysics, engineers-in-training,
estimators, project managers, field and laboratory technicians, computer programmers, and
administrative specialists. Since being founded in January 2009, we have established ourselves as
a leading engineering consulting firm in L bya.
Our team is experienced, responsive, and credentialed. We build long-term relationships with
our Clients based on integrity, honesty, open and direct communication, and traditional
friendly service. At Alia, we know how our services impact a project's design, construction, and
performance. We see the big picture and strive to assure that our services contribute positively
to both the project's short-term and long-term outcomes.

Geotechnical interpretation is fundamental in understanding how engineering and construction

activities will impact on a site.
This goes beyond the extrapolation of factual data to overlaying geological models as well as
applying local knowledge.
The results of the geotechnical interpretation are used in tandem with each client's individual needs
to provide relevant advice and tailored solutions.

OUR SERVICES
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING SERVICES
Geotechnical engineering involves exploration of the subsurface, laboratory testing of
subsurface samples, engineering analysis, and development of recommendations for various
types of projects.
Alia's licensed geotechnical engineers and engineers-in-training have diverse project
experiences with earth materials including soil, rock and groundwater.

GEOTECHNICAL REPORT

ANALYSIS
Alias' specialists use a range of analytical techniques to identify the specific geotechnical design
requirements and specifications needed for construction activities.
Advanced numerical technology such as finite element analysis and boundary element analysis is
followed up by methods that check and verify our analyses to provide accurate and reliable data to
clients.

GEOTECHNICAL DESIGN
Geotechnical design needs to consider the properties of the ground and the impact infrastructure
will have on the surface and sub-surface. Our specialists provide design services for infrastructure
projects, property developments and mines.
Some of the areas we specialize in geotechnical design include:
Foundations
Slopes, seismic risk and slope stabilization
Retaining structures
Roads
Rail formations
Pavements
Dams and reservoirs
Marine and nearshore structures
Tunnels and underground infrastructure
Quarries and landfills
Mines and tailings dams.

CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY

Alia's soil testing laboratory undertakes a range of geotechnical

and construction material testing to determine the physical
and geotechnical characteristics of soils.
Our staff is committed to delivering reliable, high quality
results, which are setting international best practice and
standards.
Our soil testing services include:

BUILDING SCIENCE

Sieve analysis and

hydrometer
Atterberg limits
Specific gravity

Compaction
Density
CBR
Direct shear

Consolidation
Unconfined compression
Permeability

ROCK TESTING

CONCRETE TESTING
Compression strength test in
cured concrete cylinders and

MATERIAL TESTING
We are committed to industry best practice to
provide high quality, reliable and timely results.
Our capabilities include testing of a range of
materials, including:
Soil testing
Rock testing
Cement/Mortar Testing
Concrete testing
Aggregate testing
Paver & T le Test ng
Masonry & Kerb Test ng

Rock testing is performed to determine the stability of

geological structures, foundation, tunnels, slopes, excavations,
and to determine the nature of materials to be used in
construction, ensuring they comply with industry regulations.
Our laboratory has acquired the latest technology in rock
testing with a unique assemblage of equipments.
This laboratory undertakes testing in the following broad
categories:
physical properties (the results of non-destructive tests)
mechanical properties (the results of destructive tests)
performance it will have in the concrete.

CONSTRUCTION ADVICE
Comprehensive construction supervision and monitoring, with ongoing quality compliance testing,
helps to reduce risk. It also enables a design to be modified if it does not meet performance
expectations, as ground conditions can be unpredictable.
Our specialist staff provides a full range of construction monitoring services, including:
Construction specification compliance testing
Quality assurance
Non-destructive testing, including surface absorption testing
In situ materials evaluation
Reinforced concrete corrosion surveys
Tensile bond strength of concrete and overlays.

SOIL TESTING

Our services in concrete technology range from evaluation of

deterioration and damage to buildings, parking and highway
structures to complete materials design, specification, and control
and quality assurance on new construction projects.
We conduct focused research assignments to respond to
challenging projects for our private and public sector clients.

Evaluation, investigation, and testing programs provide valuable information to developers, architects,
building owners, property managers and component manufacturers.
Our building science staff:
Review, inspect, and evaluate the design, construction, and performance of old and New buildings
Analyze the integrity of building, roof, wall and window systems
Identify problems caused by moisture, wind, temperature and pollutants.

CEMENT TESTING
Alia's laboratory performs Several tests to
determine the characteristics of cement, so that
one may predict the general performance it will
have in the concrete.

WHAT IS APPLIED GEOPHYSICS?

Applied geophysics investigates the physical properties of the ground, providing important information
on subsurface material conditions for all types of practical applications. Geophysical investigations are
non-intrusive, non-invasive and avoid the disruption that can be caused by drilling, pitting and
trenching. Geophysical surveys are able to cover large site areas rapidly, and optimise the targeting of
any essential intrusive inspections. In environments where intrusive investigations are not permissible,
our geophysical surveys can still provide answers.
