A long time ago, there lived a widow and her young son in a
village in China. One winter, the women fell sick. She had to eat a
red fish in the village river to cure her illness. So her son went to
the river to get the fish. However, the surface of the river had
frozen. But the boy did not give up. He took off all his clothes and
sat on the ice in the river. He wanted to melt the ice with his body
heat so he could catch the red fish.
It was very cold and hard, but the boy continued to sit on the
ice. An old man kindly came and dressed him with a vest called
doudu. The vest was magical. The boy no longer felt cold. The
doudu gave him warmth and he managed to make a hole in the
frozen surface. He caught the red fish and brought it home to his
mother. Soon his mother recovered from her illness.
