Estimados alumnos, la presente ayuda es para


que usted vea en forma resumida y clara el tema
en s de la semana que nos toca , esperamos que
con esta ayuda pueda usted seguir la secuencia
en forma sencilla y clara

Present Perfect
Simple Past

PRESENT PERFECT VS SIMPLE PAST


The present perfect is used when the time period has
NOT finished:
I have seen three movies this week.
(This week has not finished yet.)
The simple past is used when the time period HAS
finished:
I saw three movies last week.
(Last week has finished.)

The present perfect is used when the time is not


specific:
I have seen that movie already.
(We don't know when.)
The simple past is used when the time is clear:

I saw that movie on Thursday.


(We know exactly when.)

We use Present Perfect with verbs in Past Participle


And the verb HAVE AND HAS( Ha, He, Han, Hemos)
1.- I have played soccer for 5 years.
( Yo he jugado futbol por 5 aos)
2.- You have studied accountant since 2007
(T has estudiado contabilidad desde el ao 2007)

3.- We have listened to the teacher several times


Nosotros/ Nosotras hemos escuchado a la profesora
varias veces.

4.- They have never danced Merengue


Ellos / Ellas nunca han bailado Merengue.

5.- She has been in Europe for ten years.


Ella ha estado en Europa por 10 aos
6.- He has gone to Cuzco since 2010
l ha ido al Cusco desde el 2010
7.- My dog has eaten its food recently
Mi Perro ha comido sus alimentos recientemente.

How do we recognize simple past?
Expressions:
Yesterday
Last year ( ao pasado)
Last month( mes pasado)
Last week ( semana pasada)
Last night ( la noche pasada)
Last Thursday ( el jueves pasado)
Day before yesterday ( antes de ayer)
ago ( hace ) ten minutes ago ( hace diez minutos)

COMPLETE WITH PRESENT PERFECT OR SIMPLE PAST

Ann .. (live) in Birmingham all her life. Yesterday


when Ann .. (be) on her way to the train station,
it .. (begin) to rain. She. (run) back to get her
umbrella, but this (make) her late for her train.
When she. (get) to the station, she .. (ask)
a woman on the platform: "How
long .you (be) here, Madam?" "Not long, the
train to London.. just .(leave), I'm afraid."
When Ann (arrive) at the office, her
boss .. (look) at her and .. (say):
"You (be) late every morning this week.
What ..(happen) this time?" "I ..(miss) my
train."

The present perfect is used with for and since, when


the actions have not finished yet:
I have lived in Victoria for five years.
(I still live in Victoria.)

The simple past is used with for and since, when the
actions have already finished:

I lived in Victoria for five years.


(I don't live in Victoria now.)
