ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

Submitted byVIPLUV SANDUJA

About me

I am an architecture student doing

my B.Arch. degree from G.D Goenka
university. I competed my high
school form blue bells model school
choosing a science stream.

Why I choose architecture ?

VIPLUV SANDUJA
B.ARCH(2ND YEAR)
SCHOOL OF
ARCHITECTURE AND
PLANNING, GD GOENKA
UNIVERSITY, SOHNA,
HARYANA

The main purpose of me choosing

architecture was that I loved to
improve the living places in more
sophisticated ways. I wanted to
contribute some landmarks to my
country, which will serve as a tourist
spots as well as be sustainable in
nature. Being a science student I
also like to see the technicality and
reasoning behind a building I
generated interest of this field from
my brother. I like adventure this also

Acted as a reason of me
pursuing this course as my
career. Photography also
includes one of my interests,
mostly nature photography. In
my 2 years of course I have
learnt various types of
software's and attended
various kinds of learning
programs and workshops, like
arcade foundation, origami
workshop, basic Revit
workshop. Architecture have
various forms and types out of
which my favorite one is
biomimicry architecture.

IN THE FIRST DAY OF

OUR COURSE WE WERE
ASKED TO DRAW
ANYTHING THAT HAVE
WE HAVE DONE AS WE
ENTERED THE CAMPUS. I
DREWA PICTURE OF
MYSELF TAKING A
SELFIE. THIS DEPICTED
MY EMOTION OF BEING
ESTATIC.

ABSTRACTION

IN THIS ASSIGNMENT WE
DREW AN ABSTRACTION
OF A MUSICAL MELODY IN
THREE HOURS OF TIME
SPAN . IT SHOULD DEPICT
THE MELODY ACCCURATELY
WITHOUT ANY LITERAL
DEPICTION.

FIGURE GROUND
IT IS THE
UNDERSTANDING OF
GROUND SPACES AND
WHAT COULD BE THE
POSSIBLE ELEVATION.

THIS PROJECT
WAS FOR US TO
UNDERSTAND
ABOUT WHAT
PART OF THE
AREA IS BUILT
AND WHAT PART
IS NOT.

LEARNING
THE BLACK IN FIRST
IMAGE REPRESENTS
BLANK SPACE AND
IN THE SECOND
ONE IT REPRESENTS
BUILT UP SPACES.

ADDITION & SUSTRACTION

IN THIS ACTIVITY WE WERE ASKED TO MAKE A
SOLID CUBE OF 30/30 CM AND THEN TO MAKE
ANY SHAPE BY CUTTING OUT THE PICES OUT OF
THIS SOLID CUBE. I MADE A CAMERA OUT OF
THIS CUBE WHICH WAS HOLLOW FROM THE
BETWEEN ANS HAD A STICK TO HOLD AND TAKE
THE PHOTOS.

IN THE ABOVE ASSINGNMENT

WE MADE A PAPER OREGAMI
TAKING A LOAD OF 300 GRAMS
OF MOBILE PHONE. THIS
ASSIGNMENT TAUGHT US THAT
HOW A SOMPLE PAPER COULD
TAKE THAT MUCH OF LOAD. IN
SAME WAY WE CAN MAKE A
STRUCTURE WHICH COULD
TAKE THE LOAD OF LARGE
SPANS USING THIS TECHNIQUE
OF FOLDING .

OREGAMI
&
SCALING
SCALING WAS AN ASSIGNMENT
WHICH TAUGHT US ABOUT THE
VARIOUS SCALES. IN THE ABOVE
ASSIGNMENT WE LEARNT THAT BY
MAKING AREOPLANES USING
TECHNIQUE OF OREGAMI.

ANTHROPOMETRICS
ANTHROPOMETRICS IS THE IMPORTANT
PART OF DESIGNING WHICH GIVES US
THE VARIOUS STANDARDS FOR
MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AMOUNT
OF SPACE REQUIRED BY A PERSON TO
DO A CERTAIN ACTIVITY. THEYARE
DIFFERENT FOR COMMERCIAL AND
RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS.

DEPICTING EMOTIONS
IN THIS ASSIGNMENT WE WERE ASKED TO MAKE A MODEL
OUT OF 5 DIFFERENT EMOTIONS GIVEN TO US. ESTATIC WAS
ONE OF THEM. THIS MODEL DEPICTS ESTATIC FORM. BELOW
IS THE WATER GETTING THE REFLECTION OF SUN. THE
BUTTERFLIES MADE USING TECHNIQUE OF OREGAMI IS
PAINTED IN THE COLOUR OF RAINBOW i.e. VIBGYORE AND
GETS WHITE AS IT GOES UP. THE SPIRAL DEPICS THE PATH OF
ETERNITY AND PEACE WHICH THEY HAVE TO ACHIEVE AND
THE CENTRAL POLE OF THIS SPIRAL UPRISING DEPICTS THE
STRENGTH PROVIDED TO THEM BY THE GOD TO REACH AT
THE TOP POINT. ALSO BUTTERFLIES BECOME SMALLER AS
THEY GO UPWARDS, THIS DEPICTS THE PERSPECTIVE VIEW
THROUGH THE HUMAN EYE.

WE DESIGNED A POT USING THE TECHNIQUE OF

SYMMETRY, BY FOLGING AN A3 SIZE PAPER INTO HALF
AND THEN CARVING THE DESIRED PATTERN OUT OF IT.
THEN WE MADE THE DESIRED PATTERNS ON THAT
PAPER TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE AN ANCIENT POT

STILL
LIFE

WE WERE GIVEN A POT IN A PERSPECTIVE VIEW AND

WERE ASKED TO SKETCH THE SAME. THIS GAVE IS THE
RIGHT IDEA OF WHERE IT WAS MORE DARK AND
WHERE IT WAS LESS DARKER.

WORKSHOP

THE WORKSHOP HELPED US TO

UNDERSTAND VARIOUS WAYS A
PAPER COULD BE USED TO MAKE
VARIOUS KINDS OF STRUCTURES.

WOODEN CARVING
THIS ACTIVITY INVOLVED US MAKING A
STRUCTURE OR A SHAPE OUT OF
WASTE WOODEN PIECES. WE MADE A
SWING OUT OF IT WITH A STAIRCASE
BEHIND IT. THROUGH THIS ACTIVITY
WE LEARNED ABOUT HOE THE
VARIOUS KINDS OF JOINTS i.e. BUTT
JOINT, DOVETAIL JOINT, ETC WORK.

WIRE MURAL
A LOGO OF LOVE LIFE IS
MADE USING A
GALVANIZED COPPER WIRE.

WALL MURAL
A WALL MURAL OF
MOONLIGHT COMING
IN A GARBAGE CAN
AND GETTING
CONVERTED INTO A
RAINBOW IS MADE
HERE. THIS ALSO
DEPICTS LIFE OF
SLUM KIDS

POP
CARVING
THE TILE WAS MADE OF POP
HAVING VARIOUS CRESTS AND
TROUGHS. THE DESIGN IDEA
CAME FROM AN OREGAMI
MADE USING TISSUE PAPER

BOOK COVER

BRICK BONDS

IN THIS ACTIVITY WE WERE ASKED TO

MAKE VARIOUS KINDS OF BRICK BONDS
WITH SCALED DOWN VERSION OF BRICKS
PROVIDED TO US. VARIOUS KINDS OF
BRICK BONDS LIKE ENGLISH BOND,
FLEMISH BOND, RATRAP BOND, AND
DOUBLE BRICK WALL WERE TAUGHT TO US

DRAWING ROOM

WE DESIGNED A DINING ROOM MODEL

AT THE SCALE OF 1:10 WITH THE
FURNITURE TO THE EXACT SCALE. FIRST
A SKETCHUP MODEL WAS DRAWN AT
1:1 SCALE AND THEN WAS EXECUTED
INTO HANDMADE MODEL
OUR DRAWING ROOM HAD A BALCONY
AND A SOFA SET FOR 5 REOPLE.

HOME

OUR PROJECT WAS TO CHOOSE A CLIENT OF THY OWN

CHOICE AND DESIGN A SECOND HOME IN A SPACE
PROVIDED TO US NEAR MANESAR. THE AREA OF THE SITE
WAS ABOUT 22 ACERS BUT BUILTUP AREA WAS AS SMALL
AS 5000 SQ. M.
BUILD BLOCK LOCATION

MY CLIENT WAS A SURGEN WITH THE FAMILY OF 3, WIFE

DAUGHTER AND SON. HER DAUGHTER WAS THE SMALLEST
ONE IN THE FAMILY AND WAS THE COMBINING ELEMENT IN
THE FAMILY. SHE BROUGHT ALL THE FAMILY TOGETHER. SO
FATHER DECIDED TO HAVE A SPECIAL VACATION HOME BASED
ON HER LIKES AND DISLIKES. SHE WAS REALLY FOND OF A
CARTOON CHARACTER NAMED MICKEY MOUSE. SO FATHER
PLANNED TO MAKE A HOME LOOKING SIMILAR TO THE
CARTOON CHARACTERS HOUSE. FATHER TOOK CARE OF HER
LIKES WITH OPEN SPACES

THIS HOUSE HAD A MIX

OF GLASS AND PLASTER
ROOF THIS ROOF
PROVIDED OPENNESS TO
THE BUILDING. ALSO THIS
HOUSE HAD A
SWIMMING POOL BELOW
THE BRIDGE CONNECTING
THE SOCIAL SPACE AND
LIVING AREA.

SUMMER COURSE (ARCHADE)

AIM
CONCEPT
TO DESIGN AN ARCHITECTURAL
MUSEUM HAVING GIFT SHOPS
AND A HALL OF FAME.

USING FIBONACCI SERIES AND

GOLDEN CIRCLE I MADE A SPIRAL
WALL LEADING TO A SPIRAL
STAIRCASE HENCE LEADING TO THE
BASEMENT FLOOR. THIS SPIRAL WALL
WILL HAVE ALL THE NAMES OF
FAMOUS ARCHITECTS. THEN
BASEMENT FLOOR WILL SHOWCASE
PLANS OF VARIOUS BUILDINGS
ALONG WITH THEIR MODELS.

INSTALLATION

THIS IS A WIND
CHIME MADE
OUT OF
CURVED STEEL
RODS AND
APPLYING A
CYCLE SPOKE
ON THE TOP
AND HOLLOW
BAMBOO
STICKS ON IT.

THE CONCEPT
BEHIND IT WAS OF
FIBONACCI SERIES.
SEMICIRCLES OF
2,3,5 M RODS
WERE ATTACHED
TOFETHER FOR ITS
STAND

THE NUMBER OF BAMBOOS

ARE 6 WHICH DEPICTS 6
COURCES IN OUR UNIVERSITY

KINDERGARTEN

WOMB IS THE MOST CARING PLACE FOR A

CHILD WHERE IT GETS ALL ITS NUTRITION. I
WANTED MY SCHOOL TO GIVE THAT ASTHETICS
TO THE BUILDING.
SHELL IS THE SAFEST PLACE FOR SHELFISH, SO
SHOULD BE A KINDERGARTEN. SO I COMBINED
THE FORM ASPECT OF THE TWO AND GAVE IT A
SIMILAR FORM.

ISOMETRIC VIEW IS THE VIEW MADE AT AN ANGLE

OF 30 AND 60 DEGREE. IT IS IN SUCH A WAY THAT
THE ROOF IS SLANTING FROM THE THINNER END.
THIS WAS DONE TO GIVE THE DYNAMIC FORM TO
THE BUILDING SO THAT MORE PEOPLE GET
ATTRACTED FOR ADMISSIONS

ALL THE AREA STATEMENTS WERE TAKEN CARE OF. THE

SPIRAL WAS JUST TOUCHING THE EDGES OF SETBACKS.
THE NUMBER OF CLASSROOMS ARE 6, 2 FOR EACH,
ALONG WITH A TODDLERS ROOM. TOTAL BUILTUP
AREA REQUIRED WAS 890.30 SQ.M AND ACHIEVED
WAS 886.3 SQ.M .

THE ELEVATION HAS A SLOPING ROOF IN ORDER TO GIVE

IT A DYNAMIC LOOK ALSO THE WINDOWS ARE IN THE
FORM OF A PUDDLE. THE ROOF SLANTS FOR ABOUT 1.2M
DOWN.

THERE ARE 2 MAIN ENTRANCES TO THE

BUILDING i.e. VIA BASEMENT OR VIA GROUND
FLOOR. ONE ENTRY SUNKS DOWN TO THE
BASEMENT LEVEL AND REACHES THE MAIN
ENTRANCE. WHEREAS ONE ENTRY ON GROUND
FLOOR IS FOR THE KIDS TO CREATE LESS CHAOS
