Course information
The course is aimed at senior residents, board-certified radiologists and fellows
interested in abdominal oncologic imaging. It is designed as an intense one-day
programme, directly linked to the Romanian National Conference of Radiology
and Medical Imaging, as part of the ESR Support Initiative. A particular focus
will be on the applications of the latest imaging techniques, diagnostic criteria,
staging principles and clinical role of imaging in gastrointestinal, mesenteric
and peritoneal neoplasms. Renowned European experts will ensure a high
quality teaching programme, combining lectures and workshops, allowing for
interactive case discussions.
Learning objectives
to describe the role of imaging in the diagnosis and management and patients
with GISTs
to present imaging patterns of GI tract lymphomas and discuss the role of
imaging modalities in the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, staging and follow-up
of GI lymphomas
to critically review imaging methods and findings impacting on management
of patients with colon cancer and discuss the potential of functional imaging
methods to identify poor prognostic factors
to become familiar with state-of-the-art MRI protocols for rectal cancer staging
and understand the role of imaging in treatment response assessment of rectal
cancer
to describe the imaging features of primary peritoneal tumours and discuss
the role of imaging in pre-operative and post-treatment evaluation of patients
with peritoneal carcinomathosis
