sequence of works to be carried out to ensure compliance with contract requirements, drawings,
technical specification and quality control.
2.
Scope of Work
The method statement covers the supply, delivery, installation, testing and putting into
satisfactory operating condition of a cold water plumbing system for all water distribution
fixtures, equipment and fittings.
3.
Work Sequences
Both specialist and general worker experienced in this type of work will execute the works. The
piping work installation will be carried out concurrently with physical site progress to ensure that
the construction works can be complete as per schedule.
4.
Method Statement
4.1
a)
All pipes shall be stored in proper storage conditions, which are free from dust,
sunlight and extreme temperatures. For long-term storage, the pipes shall be
stacked in rack with adequate spacing and supports and with larger diameter pipes
placed at bottom.
Upon delivery, piping materials and fittings used for installation shall be checked
by site supervisor to ensure the delivered materials are conformance to
specification and approved material.
b)
Upon the installation work, all pipe routing and setting out shall be checking and
studying base on approved shop drawing.
The coordination between Civil and Structural and others M&E works shall be
carried out closely prior to installation work.
All pipe and fittings should be inspected. Any defective items should clearly
marked as rejected and forthwith remove from site.
4.3
Installation Work
a)
Upon determination of the pipe size, level and pipe routing, mark on the brick
wall the area need to be hacked for installing the concealed pipework
Make a square cut to the pipe to be installed into the required length by using fine
toothed saw or pipe cutter.
Clean the pipe to ensure that is free from burrs, swarf, dirt and grease.
Connection of pipe to pipe or pipe to fitting shall be via fitting.
Once the pipe has been cut to the required length and having determined the type
of fitting to use, push the fittings into the pipe up to the circlip housing.

Wind the nut onto the pipe a few turns by hand and tighten with a spanner until
fully engaged against circlip housing.
When the pipework had been completed, secure the pipe by patching the trench
with cement.
Pressure testing of the pipe work is then ready to be carried out.
Testing
All piping system shall be tested to pressure equivalent 1.5 times the maximum working
pressure. The indicated pressure shall be maintain for the required holding period without
further application of pressure and without visible leakage or a drop in the indicated pressure.
Any modification made in the piping system after a successful test shall cal for re-testing of
the affected portion of the piping system. All pipe installation shall be inspected and recorded
in accordance to the Inspection test plan and checklist.
5.1
a)
Seal the open ends of the pipes with PVC plug. The lowest and highest end of the
pipes shall be equipped with stop valves to control the filling in of water into the
pipes and releasing of air.
A pressure gauge with dial of 100 mm diameter and read up to 150 psi shall be
installed at the valve inlet pipe.
Fill up the pipeline with water. During filling, provision shall be made for the air
to escape from the pipeline.
After the pipeline has been filled with water, more water shall be pump into the
pipeline to raise the pressure to 80 psi.
The tested pipe pressure shall be maintained for 8 hours with allowance of 5%
drop in pressure.
Inspection Form is then submitted to the consultant / C.O.W for inspection and
endorsement.
