Dear Sir/Madam:
I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Ouindingoudi Aimee Apedjinou Sam. I
have known Ms. Apedjinou Sam since August 2016 as her Population and Community Health
clinical instructor. Ms. Apedjinou Sam is thoughtful, self-directed, and has a true gift of insight
into situations and people. Ms. Apedjinou Sam was assigned to Carondelet St. Marys Hospital Tucson and worked with the occupational health nurse. Ms. Apedjinou Sam assisted with the
influenza vaccination of hospital staff and gained knowledge about the importance of health and
wellness and nurse advocacy for the employees of the hospital.
Ms. Apedjinou Sam applied her knowledge of the nursing process and completed, in conjunction
with her team members, a thorough community assessment of a neighborhood in South Tucson.
The community assessment included data on the population, interviews of residents, analysis of
the quantitative and qualitative data, and implementation of an educational project. The
educational project, with a focus on diabetes and medication compliance, was presented to
fifteen elderly men at an assisted living facility. The teaching was well received by the men and
the nursing students were invited to come again, anytime.
Upon completion of the community health clinical rotation, Ms. Apedjinou Sam, along with her
team members, presented the community assessment and results of the education project to
public health nurses at the Theresa Lee Public Health Office. The presentation included a
summary of the community assessment, identification of strengths and stressors in the
community, evidence for the education project from peer reviewed literature, inclusion of levels
of prevention, and tied to national health goals as set forth by Healthy People 2020.
Ms. Apedjinou Sam is at all times professional and respectful. She quietly watches and listens to
all that is around her. She is thoughtful in her questions and, after critical thinking, takes action.
She is diligent, hard-working and an excellent team member. I highly recommend Ms. Apedjinou
Sam for a position with your organization, she will be an asset to the profession of nursing and I
know she will be an asset to your organization.
Sincerely,

Nancy E. McGuckin, MPH, MBA, MSN, RN
