December 14,
- F. Scott Fitzgerald's book, "The Great Gatsby", is a new book that came
out earlier this year. SPOILER ALERT! This article talks about
foreshadowing present in the book. Do not read this article if you wish to
discover the ending of the book on your own. In chapter one, Nick
discovers Gatsby staring out across the water. His body language shows
optimism and a strong sense of yearning. Nick quickly looks away, and
when he looks back Gatsby has vanished. This scene represents Gatsbys
love for Daisy. The green light represents the love that Gatsby has for her.
When he vanishes, it foreshadows that Daisy and Gatsbys love will vanish.
Another instance of foreshadowing is the car crash in chapter 3 after one of
Gatsbys parties. This event connects to Daisy crashing into Myrtle, killing
her.
