Discuss:
Before reading the story, ask your child if they would ever
like to visit a farm. Or, if you have been to a farm, help
your child recall what it was like.
After reading the story, ask your child if they would like to
have gone on this class field trip. Why or why not?
Spend some time discussing the different animals on the
farm. What does each animal eat? What animal is their
favorite?
Imagine:
Discuss with your child what it would be like to have a boa
contrictor for a pet? What kind of responsiblities would you
have taking care of a boa? What kind of food would you
feed it? Where would you keep it? What would you name it?
Have your child draw a picture of their pet boa. Help them
write the name on the paper.
Create:
Using an old sock, help your child create a stuffed Boa
Constrictor. Color with fabric markers or glue colorful
pieces of fabric scraps to it. Attach two googly eyes and a
red snake tongue (made of felt).
Explore:
Find a farm to visit. Use the worksheet provided to draw a
picture of the farm you visisted. Or attach a photo. Have
your child narrate to you what the farm was like.
Visit the zoo to see a real live Boa Constrictor. Ask your
child what it would be like to take this boa to a farm? Or to
the store?
Play:
