    Job Summary of our Web and Applications Development Officer


    Category: Entry-level, Full-time International Staff
    Reports to: the Director of Operations
    Location: Banjul, Gambia and Dakar, Senegal, West Africa with opportunities to
    travel in Africa and Europe

    The Web and Applications Development Officer (WAD O) is primarily responsible for the provision
    of web and applications development services to our client/s under his/her portfolio. The WAD O
    is also responsible for TEFAs web strategy and undertake various improvement and enhancement
    of TEFAs web presence. The WAD O will also primarily provide direct technical support to the
    company IT architecture and he/she will work closely with individuals on the Business
    Development and Project Management teams.

    Specific Responsibilities

    I. Provision of web and applications development services to client/s in portfolio


    a. Develop and test websites, web portals
    b. Develop and test web applications
    c. Develop and test scripts to support the implementation of interfaces, search
    facilities, document templates and quality control of contents to be published
    d. Create, develop and maintain backend database architectures in support of the
    website/s
    e. Install, develop, enhance and maintain the databases used on all servers within
    the network
    f. Install and maintain the physical network servers, operating systems and
    webservers used within the network
    g. Undertake analysis of requirements, data analysis and modelling, designing
    programmatic data flows and interfaces for content publishing systems and
    associated subsystems
    II. Manage TEFAs web presence
    a. Provide development, update, and changes as deemed necessary to TEFAs
    website, intranet and other sites
    b. Develop and implement TEFAs web strategy
    c. Undertake various improvement and enhancements to TEFAs web presence
    III. Provide direct technical support to TEFAs IT architecture
    a. Install, develop, enhance and maintain the databases used on all servers within
    the network
    b. Install and maintain the physical network servers, operating systems and
    webservers used within the network
    c. Undertake analysis of requirements, data analysis and modelling, designing
    programmatic data flows and interfaces for content publishing systems and
    associated subsystems

    Qualifications:

    1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, IT, Web Engineering


    2. High proficiency in server side programming and clear understanding of data
    architectures, modelling techniques and system development methodologies
    3. High proficiency in the use of offline publishing tools
    4. Excellent web development skills
    5. An innovative thinker
    6. Excellent command of English, ability to speak French is an added advantage but not a
    requirement
    7. Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of
    competing demands/multiple deadlines

    8. Ability to manage projects with minimal oversight, make effective inquiries, identify
    relevant facts, and translate technical details into concise web and applications
    9. Strong technical communication skills
    10. Ability to give and receive constructive criticism
