H-1 B VISA
H-1 Visa Case study- The students need to submit in the word doc with all the
necessary explanation of the case, with answers to the following questions.
The growth of the information technology, research and development, and science sectors of
the economy has forced American firms to scour the world for talent. To bring workers they
need into the United States, American companies sponsor their H-1B work visas. The rapid
pace of technological and scientific development is best fostered by an open immigration
regime. Unfortunately, America is far from that today. Highly skilled foreign workers are
typically well educated, English speaking, and young. They receive high levels of
compensation, do not consume social programs, and do not commit crimes more than the
general population. Moreover, there is little direct competition between foreign highly skilled
workers and similarly skilled Americans. Foreign workers complement American workers
and push them into different higher paying occupations. To further expand these benefits to
the American economy, the restrictions and fees levied on H-1B visas and other skilled
foreign worker visa categories should be removed. Quotas and the temporary time nature
of work visas are major impediments to Americans fully reaping the benefits that highly
skilled workers bring. Contrary to claims by immigration restrictionists, many highly skilled
foreign workers, including H-1B visa holders, go on to start profitable businesses in the U.S.
that employ thousands of Americans. Furthermore, patents and scientific discoveries by
highly skilled foreign workers have yielded billions of dollars in productivity gains that
enrich millions of Americans. Government quotas, rules, and fees create regulatory burdens
to the efficient hiring of foreign talent when firms need it the most. American businesses
should be free to employ the best worker for any jobfrom anywhere in the world. In a
globalized and interconnected world, countries that place restrictions on their own businesses
ability to do so are shooting themselves in the foot.
USPresident Donald Trump has signed an executive order directing to review the H-1B
visa programme for high-skilled foreigners to ensure preference for the most-skilled
and highest-paid.
2. T and D programme
The Training program should be more effective and efficient. It should give the employees
competitive edge so that they can stand out. The trainer should focus on SOS that is shape,
observe and share. The H1B issue with Mnuchin as India fears the curb would impact the
movement of Indian IT professionals to America and highlighted the contribution Indian
companies and professionals are making to the US economy.
The development came after President Donald Trump signed an executive order for
tightening the rules of the H1B visa programme to stop its abuse and ensure that the visas
are given to the most-skilled or highest paid petitioners, a decision that would impact
Indias $150 billion IT industry. Therefore we need to focus that quality of training is
increased and employees should possess high quality skills. Also we should focus on proving
them training on digital technology like AI, ML, and IOT etc as all of this forms backbone of
competencies.
The organization should build upon their training programs in the following ways:
Continuous learning program
Focusing on digital skills like AI, ML IOT etc
Encouraging employees to go for additional courses or training program that can
enhance their knowledge
ALP- action learning planning should be done
SOS- show, observe and shape should be done by trainer
Should give higher education program to interested employees
Lastly organization should try to be dynamic and an active learner to all new
trends in todays world.
