First part: Dividend into 158 Sections. Can be amended by the legislature
only.
Second Part: Divided into 51 Orders and Rules. Can be amended by High
Courts.
The Orders and Rules are to be read along with the Sections. When there is
ambiguity in interpretation between the two, the version of the Sections prevails.
History
The Code of Civil Procedure was first formulated in 1859 and was later updated in
1877, 1859, 1882 and to its present form that was made in 1908.
