Plagiarism Detection Policy

The Colombian Journal of Nephrology ensures the fulfillment of national and

international ethical guidelines in its publication process. Hence, it relies on the
international guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics-COPE and it makes use
of iThenticate tools for plagiarism detection.
In the case of plagiarism, the procedures followed by the Colombian Journal of
Nephrology are based on the information issued by COPE, available in the following url:

Some of the participants responsibilities are:

Editors: They must adopt the best standards and peer review methods, so that every
article be reviewed by competent experts. Editors must also make clear which sections
have no peer review process and which do have. They, in other words, must make sure
that the journal has a clear publication guideline. Likewise, editors must contribute to the
detection of plagiarism and possible ethical misconduct. Finally, they must offer advice
on publication process to authors as well as to reviewers, in order to promote appropriate
conducts for researching and publishing.
Authors: They must develop original researches with responsibility and high ethical
standards. Additionally, they must present the results honestly, completely, and
transparently, so the scientific community be able either to confirm the data presented or
to reply to it. Authors should not send the manuscript to other journals to be evaluated.
They should report the studies on which the research was based as well as the sponsors
that supported it. They should also declare if there is any conflict of interest. Finally,
authors must claim responsibility for the issued research.
Reviewers: They should make the editors know the possible frauds or plagiarisms of
reviewed researches. They must review the papers objectively and in a timely manner.
They will also argue why an article has been rejected or how it could be more suitable for
publishing.
