A. GUIDELINES FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE CAPSULE PROPOSALS

The capsule proposal should not be longer than ten pages.

I. Research Project Title (no more than 20 words)

II. The Problem and Its Background

a. Must be brief/straightforward
b. Must be relevant, identify shortcomings of the present knowledge (context) and
relate the goals to this context
c. Best if achieved in three paragraphs
d. Objectives must be stated explicitly

III. Significance of the Study

IV. Review of Related Literature

a. The text should be brief. Summarize important points.


b. The problem you are going to work on can serve as the outline for discussion of
related literature and studies.
c. Emphasize relatedness of your research problem with other literature.
d. Refrain from copying verbatim what the authors or researchers say. Critically
review and discuss the literature in relation to your research work.

V. Methodology

In principle, somebody should be able to repeat what you did and get the same
results
a. So, balance between details and brevity
b. State clearly your study design/setup
c. When appropriate, cite standard procedures only but if there are
modifications, justify your choice of a particular method over other
options

VI. Literature Cited


a. All references in text should be listed
b. Decide which list format, and be consistent
c. As much as possible, use published references
d. Most of the others can be cited as unpublished data

80% - Capsule Proposal

20% - Peer Evaluation*

*Rate each of your group members on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 – lowest and 10 – highest). Use the
following criteria:
