The poem describes the world as being grey but also blue and green. The whole world seems sunk into a blue color and is blue and green overall. The speaker sees themselves as a smiling light bringing new life, not distinguishing between old and young as all are within. Both old and young exist within the speaker with one face, in a still springtime. The message is to live.

VES SVET JE KAKOR
Die graue Welt
is blau und grün.
AS IF THE WHOLE WORLD
The grey world is blue and green.
The whole world is as if
sunk into blueness, the whole world is blue and green.
I am the smiling light
to new life. I do not distinguish the old from the young, all are in me. The old and the young, all of them are in me with the one face. (In the sapphire glimmer of a still spring.) To live, to live!
