COMPANY PROFILE

Housing Development Financing Corporation (HDFC) Bank is the third largest bank by market
capitalisation. It is headquartered in Mumbai. The journey of HDFC Ltd started from August
1994 with the banking licences issued. The founder of HDFC Ltd Hasmukh Thakordas Parekh
was a great Indian financial entrepreneur, writer and Philanthropist. He was also awarded Padma
Bhushan (1992). Currently, the CEO of HDFC Ltd is Aditya Puri who is considered to be one of
the highest paid banking chiefs in India.

HDFC Ltd provides wide range of banking services covers commercial and investment banking
on the wholesale and transactional/branch banking on the retail side. As per the data on 30
September 2017 HDFC Ltd has 4729 branches and 12259 ATM’s across 2669 cities and towns.
It has one overseas wholesale banking branch in Bahrain, a branch in Hong Kong and two
representative offices in UAE and Kenya. The bank has two subsidiaries HDFC Securities Ltd
and HDB Financial Services Ltd. The main core or primary segments of HDFC Ltd are Banking,
Wholesale banking and Treasury.

Retail banking segment serves retail customer through branch network and other delivery
channels. Through Retail segment, Bank raises a deposit from the customer and makes loans and
provides other services with the help of specialist product groups to such customer. Wholesale
Banking segment provides loans non-fund facilities and transaction services to cooperate public
sector unit’s government bodies financial institution and medium-scale enterprises. Treasury
segment includes net interest earnings on investments portfolio of the bank.

The shares of HDFC Ltd are listed on BSE Ltd, NSE of India Ltd. The Banks American
Depository Shares (ADS) are listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Global
Depository Receipts (GDR) is listed on Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
