1 INTRODUCTION

GAIL Gas Ltd (GGL) is the agency for transportation and supply of piped Natural
Gas and/or R-LNG to various domestic, commercial & industrial consumers and
CNG for vehicle transportation sections in the Dewas City within the Municipal
Limits.

The receipt of gas from the source and its transportation and distribution is intended
to be by means of a main steel pipeline downstream of CGS operating at 14-19
kg/cm2(g) pressure. Supply to individual consumers within the city shall be through
MDPE grid downstream of DRS.

This document defines the basic design parameters used for

Process Design of main 35 km main steel pipeline with associated piping,
valves, SVs and tap off points.
Hydraulic analysis and adequacy check of the 35 km main steel pipeline.

2 PROCESS DESCRIPTION

Dewas City Gas Distribution:

Natural Gas supply for Dewas City Gas Project is proposed from Jagoti-Pithampur
Pipeline Network of GAIL. A 12” dia. spurline connects Dewas from tapoff at
Sanwer from Jagoti- Pithanpur line. Also, GAIL is presently supplying gas to a few
industrial units in Dewas.

In order to supply gas to various consumers in the City, metered and filtered gas
taken from CGS shall be fed to the main steel pipeline laid strategically in the city.
The City Gate Station has been proposed in Industrial Area No.3. Natural Gas from
the CGS is fed into single pipeline supplying gas to the city network. The pressure at
the downstream of CGS shall be 19 kg/cm2(g). A Primary network of steel pipeline
shall connect the various CNG stations and District Regulating Stations (DRS) for
further gas supply distribution to automotive and PNG consumers. The main grid
line is laid alongside roads and highways. The main steel pipeline is of approx. 35
km length operating at 11-19 kg/cm2(g).

SV Stations are installed at approx every 2.5 km distance. As far as possible, SV

Stations are planned to be installed near CNG stations for prompt maintenance
response.

3 DESIGN BASIS

The metered and filtered gas from CGS is fed to the main steel network. Gas supply
condition and other basis for the process design are detailed in sections below.
This section defines the basic design parameters used for design of Main Steel
Network and associated facilities for the present as well as future use.

3.1 Demand

Consolidated total Demand of Dewas for City Gas Distribution Project for period of
25 years including Domestic, Commercial, Industrial and Automobile sectors is
333235 SCMD.
The demand of gas in Dewas city in different categories for 10th and 25th year are as
below: -

Domestic Automobile Commercial Industrial Total

Demand for 3060 10998 81 24033 38172
10th year
Demand for 22141 35308 3175 272611 333235
25th year
(All Figures in SCMD)

Demand of 25th year has been considered for Process Design work.
